Abstract: Provided is a method of transforming an image of a biometric surface comprising the steps of sensing (201) a biometric surface to provide biometric image data, receiving data relating to a plurality of parameters for use in transforming image data, different parameters for resulting in differently transformed image data for a same biometric image data, transforming (204) the biometric image data in accordance with the received data to provide transformed biometric image data in a format relating to the received data, and providing (205) the transformed biometric image data as output image data having the format, wherein the transformed biometric image data is different for different parameters enabling provision of images of a same biometric surface having different image formats. There is further provided a biometric imaging device for executing the above described method, as well as memory for storing data, relevant to the above-described method.

Abstract: A portable image capture device, program and method for controlling and managing data captured thereby. A device program residing on the portable image capture device generally associates data processing attributes with image files generated for image data captured by the portable image capture device. In some embodiments, the device program associates data processing attributes related to prompts for pre-defined image data with corresponding image files generated in response to the prompts. The device program, and attribute and prompt data therefor are created on a data processing system and are transferrable therefrom to the portable image capture device.

Abstract: A reading system includes a computer and a mass storage device including software comprising instructions for causing a computer to accept an image file generated from optically scanning an image of a document. The software convert the image file into a converted text file that includes text information, and positional information associating the text with the position of its representation in the image file. The reading system has the ability therefore to display the image representation of the scanned image on a computer monitor and permit a user to control operation of the reader by with respect to the displayed image representation of the document by using the locational information associated with the converted text file. Also described are techniques for dual highlighting spoken text and a technique for determining the nearest word to a position selected by use of mouse or other pointing device operating on the image representation as displayed on the monitor.
