TL;DR: In this article, a system and method for integrating electronic patient information with an electronic medical image file is presented, where at least one information processor is provided that is operable to communicate over a communication network.
Abstract: The invention comprises a system and method for integrating electronic patient information with an electronic medical image file. In one embodiment, at least one information processor is provided that is operable to communicate over a communication network. A database is provided on the at least one information processor, wherein the database is operable to store electronic patient information representing a plurality of patients, and further to store respective image files representing patient medical examinations. A receiving module is preferably included that receives an image file representing a patient medical examination. The image file is preferably formatted with a respective filename. Also, a converting module is provided that is operable to convert the image file to be associated with at least one tag, wherein the converting module refers to at least the respective filename to associate the image with the tag(s), and further the tag(s) are associated with the image file to associate the medical image record with the electronic patient information for a respective patient. A storage module is further operable to store the converted image to the database. Preferably, the modules operate substantially without human intervention.

TL;DR: In this paper, an image-based rendering system and method for displaying 3D images of a subject (e.g. an object or scene) is disclosed for displaying a subject from various viewpoints along a trajectory about the subject.
Abstract: An image-based rendering system and method is disclosed for displaying 3D images of a subject (e.g. an object or scene). A compressed image file having multiple corrected and calibrated images of a subject from various viewpoints from along a trajectory about the subject is generated. Prior to selected viewpoints of the object being displayed, the compressed image file is at least partially transcoded to a randomly accessible format such that individual or multiple images may be extracted for immediate display or further processing. One or more final extracted images are optionally used in interpolation, morphing, or stitching algorithms before display to a viewer.

TL;DR: In this paper, a system including multiple display monitors for displaying multiple user interface image windows associated with corresponding multiple executable applications employs an image format determination system including an input processor for receiving command data representing a command to initiate execution of a function of a second application and display of an associated second image window in response to user entry of a command via a first image window associated with a first application.
Abstract: A screen sharing function enables a main executable application, which typically uses more than one monitor, to switch to single-monitor usage as necessary to allow a user to directly interact with other applications that the main executable application invokes. A system including multiple display monitors for displaying multiple user interface image windows associated with corresponding multiple executable applications employs an image format determination system. The image format determination system includes an input processor for receiving command data representing a command to initiate execution of a function of a second application and display of an associated second image window in response to user entry of a command via a first image window associated with a first application. An image format selection processor, in response to the received command data, automatically initiates reduction in size of the first image window to fit a screen of the multiple display monitors and to prevent mutual overlap of the reduced size first image window and the second image window. A display processor initiates generation of data representing the reduced size first image window and the second image window, for presentation on the multiple display monitors.

TL;DR: Techniques are outlined for simplifying oblique plane specification, a methodology is presented for image construction, and an interactive approach is illustrated to register images for such general view planes using digital aliasing of oblique planes.
Abstract: Although geometric principles describing planes oblique to an orthogonal image data set are well understood, no implementation has been offered for their practical specification, extraction, and display in a clinical environment. Fast image generation and ease of user specification-requisite credentials for successful clinical implementations-are handicapped by the large volume of data to process. Other difficulties further complicate an interactive solution. Once oblique planes are generated, their orientation is often difficult to perceive without visual cues that aid their registration with standard image formats. In addition, Moire patterns introduced by digital aliasing often currupt resultant views. In this paper, techniques are outlined for simplifying oblique plane specification, a methodology is presented for image construction, and an interactive approach is illustrated to register images for such general view planes. Finally, digital aliasing of oblique planes is discussed, and a solution is given for this application.

TL;DR: In this article, a system for scanning a document and sending a corresponding image file to a remote recipient using a software autosend utility that accesses predefined profiles of potential recipients is presented.
Abstract: A system for scanning a document and sending a corresponding image file to a remote recipient using a software autosend utility that accesses predefined profiles of potential recipients. The predefined profiles including transport protocols and image scanning characteristics for such recipients. According to the invention, the autosend utility is launched, and the autosend utility receives user input identifying the remote recipient. Based on the profile corresponding to the identity of the remote recipient, image scanning characteristics and a transport protocol for the resulting image data are is both determined. The document is scanned in accordance with the determined image scanning characteristics, and a temporary image file containing image data for the scanned document is stored. The temporary image file is sent to the remote recipient using the determined transport protocol.
