TL;DR: In this article, a system and method for minimizing screen burn on a display screen caused by the display of video images that do not occupy the entire area of the display screen is presented.
Abstract: There is disclosed a system and method for minimizing screen burn on a display screen caused by the display of video images that do not occupy the entire area of the display screen. The system comprises video image processing circuitry capable of 1) formatting a received video signal to display an active image of the video signal on a portion of the display screen, and 2) displaying a screen saver on portions of the display screen that are not occupied by said formatted active image. A screen saver library provides a screen saver from a plurality of screen savers. Each screen saver in the plurality of screen savers occupies portions of the display screen that are not occupied by an active image. The method of the present invention comprises the steps of determining the image format of an active image of a video signal; comparing the image format of the active image with the image format of a display screen; formatting the active image in response to said comparison of image formats; selecting from a screen saver library a screen saver that occupies areas of the display screen that are not occupied by the active image; and displaying the active image and the selected screen saver on the display screen.

TL;DR: In this article, a process is provided to prepare production data for a print job, which includes an electronic document defined by a page description language (PDL), and the electronic document is stored in a PDL image file, such as a Postscript file, a PDF file, or the like.
Abstract: A process is provided to prepare production data for a print job. The production data includes an electronic document defined by a page description language (PDL). The electronic document is stored in a PDL image file, such as a Postscript file, a PDF file, or the like. A still image proxy, which may be a JPEG file, a GIF file, a PNG file, or the like, is created of the PDL image file. An image display of the still image proxy is electronically manipulated. In addition, production specifications may be appended to the image display of the still image proxy. Information about the manipulations and production specifications are recorded and subsequently used to revise the PDL image file so as to match the PDL image file to the manipulations made to the image display of the still image proxy and to match the production specifications appended to the image display of the still image proxy. The production specifications may also include print job instructions that are used for preparation of the print job, but which do not physically alter the PDL image file.

TL;DR: In this paper, a file server, an image processing apparatus and a terminal unit are connected to a network, and the user can create an operation mode file defining specific image processing, and register it in the file server.
Abstract: In an image processing system, a file server, an image processing apparatus and a terminal unit are connected to a network. The image processing apparatus collects information on available functions, the status of the operation for image processing, and the status of failures and consumable supplies, from a detecting unit, thereby creating a status file and registers it in the file server. The user of the terminal unit obtains the status file from the file server and allows it to be displayed on a display device. This enables the user to find out the functions provided by the image processing apparatus, the status of the operation for image processing, the history of failures, and the like. On the basis of this information, the user can create an operation mode file defining specific image processing, and register it in the file server.

TL;DR: In this article, the header information for a data description HTML(hyper text workup language) is generated in an HTML conversion part 3 and an HTML document description structural body is generated.
Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To convert and work image data so as to treat the image data as an formation in a high degree on an internet as a simple constitution by relating a data description form and image data and outputting the data on the internet. SOLUTION: The header information for a data description HTML(hyper text workup language) is generated in an HTML conversion part 3 and an HTML document description structural body is generated. By incorporating facsimile information into this HTML format, the synthesized data file that the document description structural body and an image file are synthesized is generated, data is made into a text and the data of a compression/non- compression, etc., is stored in an image file 19 in the form of a file. Next, a file control processing is performed, a file name imparting processing is performed, further, the transmission data of the HTML description form is transferred from a facsimile equipment 1 to a personal computer 9 by using an interface 5 to be a bi-directional parallel data interface and an interface 11 and the data is transmitted on an internet.

TL;DR: In this paper, a technique for organizing and displaying digital photographs based on time is described, which includes inputting data representing a photograph and storing the data as a photograph image file.
Abstract: A technique is provided for organizing and displaying digital photographs based on time. The technique includes inputting data representing a photograph and storing the data as a photograph image file. The technique then identifies the manner in which the photograph image file stores time information (such as date and time of day). For instance, the technique determines whether the time information is digitally encoded in the image file, or whether it is embedded within the image data itself. The technique next includes extracting the time information from the photograph image file using a technique appropriate to the identified manner in which the time information is stored, to produce extracted time information. The photographs are then inserted into a time sequence based on the extracted time information, and presented on a calendar display at a location representative of the chronological placement of the photograph within the time sequence.
