TL;DR: In this article, the analysis and evaluation techniques of a gamut mapping technique, which can reflect the determination result of the quality of gamut-mapping in the gamut mapping technique, are demanded.
Abstract: The analysis and evaluation techniques of a gamut mapping technique, which can reflect the determination result of the quality of gamut mapping in the gamut mapping technique, are demanded. Hence, a color distribution information file and image file are loaded, initial 3D object data is generated based on color distribution data, and initial image object data is generated based on image data. The image object data and 3D object data are displayed on a monitor. When the user inputs a message, a process corresponding to the input message is executed, and the updated image object data and 3D object data are displayed on the monitor.

TL;DR: This paper describes web services that will allow both humans and computers to query for, and obtain, mammograms from the DDSM in a standard and well-supported image file format and how these and other services can be used within grid-based workflows, allowing digital mammography researchers to make use of distributed computing facilities.
Abstract: The Digital Database for Screening Mammography (DDSM) is an invaluable resource for digital mammography research. However, there are two particular shortcomings that can pose a significant barrier to many of those who may want to use the resource: 1) the actual mammographic image data is encoded using a non-standard lossless variant of the JPEG image format; 2) although detailed metadata is provided, it is not in a form that permits it to be searched, manipulated or reasoned over by standard tools. This paper describes web services that will allow both humans and computers to query for, and obtain, mammograms from the DDSM in a standard and well-supported image file format. Further, this paper describes how these and other services can be used within grid-based workflows, allowing digital mammography researchers to make use of distributed computing facilities.

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors compare a variety of lossless image compression methods on a large sample of astronomical images and show how the compression ratios and speeds of the algorithms are affected by the amount of noise in the images.
Abstract: We compare a variety of lossless image compression methods on a large sample of astronomical images and show how the compression ratios and speeds of the algorithms are affected by the amount of noise in the images. In the ideal case where the image pixel values have a random Gaussian distribution, the equivalent number of uncompressible noise bits per pixel is given by Nbits =log2(sigma * sqrt(12)) and the lossless compression ratio is given by R = BITPIX / Nbits + K where BITPIX is the bit length of the pixel values and K is a measure of the efficiency of the compression algorithm. We perform image compression tests on a large sample of integer astronomical CCD images using the GZIP compression program and using a newer FITS tiled-image compression method that currently supports 4 compression algorithms: Rice, Hcompress, PLIO, and GZIP. Overall, the Rice compression algorithm strikes the best balance of compression and computational efficiency; it is 2--3 times faster and produces about 1.4 times greater compression than GZIP. The Rice algorithm produces 75%--90% (depending on the amount of noise in the image) as much compression as an ideal algorithm with K = 0. The image compression and uncompression utility programs used in this study (called fpack and funpack) are publicly available from the HEASARC web site. A simple command-line interface may be used to compress or uncompress any FITS image file.

TL;DR: In this article, the printer unit develops the input image file, prints the corresponding image, and outputs it, and the printing command signal is issued from the data processing section provided in the output section, together with an image file appropriately converted from video signals.
Abstract: To provide an image display device, such as a liquid crystal receiver or the like, that has a printer incorporated therein for printing a displayed image on the spot, upon switching-on of a television receiver, an image forming device is activated and images or the like are projected onto a display screen. Here, by appropriately operating an operation section or the like, a command requiring images being displayed on the display screen to be printed out, is inputted into the image forming device. As a result, the printing command signal is issued from the data processing section provided in the output section to the printer unit, together with an image file appropriately converted from video signals. The printer unit develops the input image file, prints the corresponding image, and outputs it.

TL;DR: In this article, a method, system and computer program product for entering physical documents into a digital back-end system is described, which includes at least one scanner for scanning a document and generating an associated document image file.
Abstract: A method, system and computer program product for entering physical documents into a digital back-end system are provided The system includes at least one scanner for scanning a document and generating an associated document image file, a server including an intermediate document store, connected to the scanner for storing a document image file together with a document identification in a document file, and at least one input device connected to the server for entering an attribute file The attributable file contains a set of document attributes accompanied by a document identification The server includes a merging unit for checking whether a document identification of one of the attribute files corresponds to a document identification of one of the document files and, if so, the merger unit links the set of attributes to this document file
