TL;DR: In this article, an inductive incremental displacement sensor (IDSS) was proposed for determining the displacement of a first object relative to a second object as well as to an inductively sensor unit.
Abstract: The inductive incremental displacement sensor is characterized in that the first sensor unit and the second sensor unit each have a first inductive sensor and a second inductive sensor disposed at a distance from each other and that the first sensor unit and the second sensor unit deliver a switching signal relevant to a conductive region of the graduated track when the difference or the ratio of the detection signals from the inductive sensors allocated to the respective sensor unit as generated by the conductive region is less than a specifiable threshold. Furthermore, the invention relates to a method for determining the displacement of a first object relative to a second object as well as to an inductive sensor unit.

TL;DR: Indutivo is presented, a contact-based inductive sensing technique for contextual interactions that recognizes conductive objects that are commonly found in households and daily environments, as well as their individual movements when placed against the sensor.
Abstract: We present Indutivo, a contact-based inductive sensing technique for contextual interactions. Our technique recognizes conductive objects (metallic primarily) that are commonly found in households and daily environments, as well as their individual movements when placed against the sensor. These movements include sliding, hinging, and rotation. We describe our sensing principle and how we designed the size, shape, and layout of our sensor coils to optimize sensitivity, sensing range, recognition and tracking accuracy. Through several studies, we also demonstrated the performance of our proposed sensing technique in environments with varying levels of noise and interference conditions. We conclude by presenting demo applications on a smartwatch, as well as insights and lessons we learned from our experience.

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors proposed a method for monitoring a rotation of a compressor wheel (12) of an exhaust gas turbocharger, and an apparatus for carrying out the method.
Abstract: The invention proposes a method for monitoring a rotation of a compressor wheel (12), in particular a compressor wheel (12) of an exhaust gas turbocharger, and an apparatus (10) for carrying out the method. The method according to the invention provides for the compressor wheel (12) to have a number n of blades (14) on the circumference, wherein a sensor (16) is provided for the purpose of detecting at least one rotation property of the compressor wheel (12), especially the speed or rotational speed, wherein the sensor (16) is an inductive sensor (16), wherein the sensor (16) generates at least one output signal (20) on the basis of the eddy currents generated by being guided past the blades (14), wherein the rotation property, in particular the rotational speed, of the compressor wheel (12) is inferred from a fundamental frequency of the output signal (20), and wherein an item of information relating to a fault of the compressor wheel (12) can also be gathered from at least one modulation of the output signal (20), in particular amplitude modulation. An imbalance of the compressor wheel can be detected, in particular.

TL;DR: In this paper, an apparatus and a method for measuring the clearance between the blade tips of the compressor blades of a rotatable compressor assembly and the housing in which the compressor assembly is mounted in a gas turbine engine are disclosed.
Abstract: An apparatus and a method for measuring the clearance between the blade tips of the compressor blades of a rotatable compressor assembly and the housing in which the compressor assembly is mounted in a gas turbine engine are disclosed. The apparatus includes an inductive proximity sensor disposed in the housing and positioned in close proximity to but not touching the blade tips of the compressor blades of the compressor assembly. The inductive proximity sensor is adapted to generate a magnetic field and to sense changes in the magnetic field as the compressor assembly is rotated and the blade tips are sequentially brought into close proximity to the inductive proximity sensor. The inductive proximity sensor is mounted in one or more alignment ports defined in the housing of the gas turbine engine. A device displays the clearance between the inductive proximity sensor and the blade tips of the compressor blades of the rotatable compressor assembly.

TL;DR: In this paper, a rail course measurement device contains at least one inductive sensor arrangement and computing unit, which detects a variation in inductance depending on the positional variation of the rail.
Abstract: The rail course measurement device contains at least one inductive sensor arrangement and computing unit. There is an inductive sensor arrangement for each individual wheel. The change in inductance corresponding to the change in the position of the rail is detected. Each sensor arrangement (3) contains at least one sensor which detects a variation in inductance depending on the positional variation of the rail. The sensor arrangement can contain at least one sensor in front of and one behind the associated wheel. USE/ADVANTAGE - Compact, weather-resistant and enables course of rails to be accurately determined irrespective of state of rails.
