16 Nov 1998TL;DR: A coin validation arrangement, usable for example in pay telephones, uses one or more inductive sensors (17) having a small effective magnetic field so that the inductive sensor responds only to the material of a strip across the coin this article.
Abstract: A coin validation arrangement, usable for example
in pay telephones, uses one or more inductive sensors (17)
having a small effective magnetic field so that the
inductive sensor (17) responds only to the material of a
strip across the coin. Preferably a plurality of
inductive sensors (17) are used, mounted at different
heights above the floor (23) of the coin guide, at
different positions along the coin path. At each
position along the coin path there may be either one or
a plurality of inductive sensors (17). Preferably the
inductive sensors (17) are surface mount inductors on a
printed circuit board which forms part of one wall (19) of
the coin guide. Such arrangements are particularly
useful for recognising coins having an outer ring made
of a different material from the central disc, and for
distinguishing such coins from uniform composition coins.

TL;DR: In this article, an inductive sensor device for measuring the distance between the device tip and the work piece has been proposed for welding or cutting electrically conductive work pieces, where the sensor device is a separate module, which is pushed onto the pipe and/or the nozzle, and releasably connected with the pipe.
Abstract: A welding or cutting device for welding or cutting electrically conductive work pieces has a pipe that accommodates feed lines, a nozzle for exit of a welding or cutting jet, such as a flame, for example, disposed at an end of the pipe, forming a device tip with its free end, and an inductive sensor device for measuring the distance between the device tip and the work piece. The sensor device has at least one magnetic coil, the windings of which run about a longitudinal device axis. The sensor device is a separate module, which is pushed onto the pipe and/or the nozzle, and releasably connected with the pipe and/or the nozzle.

TL;DR: In this paper, the reaction speed of the tennis player and the ball after the impact to the tennis blade are determined by using specialized contact sensors using permanent ceramic magnets, which can be used to process such sensors and the experimental results concerning the processing of such magnets of barium hexaferritte powders are presented.
Abstract: The reaction speed of the tennis player and the speed of the ball after the impact to the tennis blade, they both are important elements of the performance evaluation of a tennis player. The determination of those parameters is possible by using specialized contact sensors. Permanent ceramic magnets can be used to process such sensors and the paper presents the experimental results concerning the processing of such magnets of barium hexaferritte powders

TL;DR: In this paper, an alternating current is passed through two magnetic coils either simultaneously or successively and the difference between their impedances is found, which is used to find the target distance after conventional calibration.
Abstract: Inductive sensor comprises a magnetic core (1) which has two coils (2,3) spaced by a distance (d0). To find the distance from the sensor to an electrically conducting target an alternating current is passed through them either simultaneously or successively and the difference between their impedances is found. The impedance difference is used to find the target distance after conventional calibration

TL;DR: In this article, a sensor consisting of a variable capacitor, an inductor, a voltage source and a toroidal transformer is used to measure the relative movement of the inductor and a metallic member by measuring changes in magnitude of the current in the resonant circuit.
Abstract: A sensor 1 comprising a variable capacitor 2, an inductor 3, a voltage source 4 and a toroidal transformer 5 connected in series within an electrical circuit 6, which is tuned to be a resonant circuit. The sensor is used to measure the relative movement of the inductor 3 and a metallic member 9 by measuring changes in magnitude of the current in the resonant circuit 6 as the metallic member 9 enters the magnetic field 8 of the inductor 3. The sensor 1 can be used to measure linear and rotational movement. For example, the metallic member 9 may be attached to a control rod within a nuclear reactor, or the metallic member may comprise a rotatable disc (19, Fig 2) attached to the shaft of a pump within a nuclear reactor.
