TL;DR: In this article, an inductive debris sensor based on a high-gradient magnetic field is presented for high-throughput lubricating oil circuits, where the excitation coil of the sensor is driven by a constant current to generate a high gradient magnetic field, and the induction coil is wound around the flow path.
Abstract: Wear is one of the main factors of machine failure. If abnormal wear was not detected in time during the operation of a mechanical system, it probably leads to catastrophic consequences. The wear debris in the lubricating oil circuit contains much information about equipment wear. Consequently, debris detection is regarded as an effective way to detect mechanical faults. In this paper, an inductive debris sensor based on a high-gradient magnetic field is presented for high-throughput lubricating oil circuits. The excitation coil of the sensor is driven by a constant current to generate a high-gradient magnetic field, and the induction coil is wound around the flow path. When wear debris cuts the magnetic line through the flow path, a corresponding induced voltage is generated. The experimental results show that the sensor output signal is linear with the drive current and the wear debris velocity. In addition, the shortest distance between the particles that the sensor output signals can be completely separated is 25 mm. When the distance is smaller, the induced signals are superimposed.

TL;DR: A capacitance sensing circuit may include a switching circuit configured to generate a sensor current by charging and discharging a capacitive sensor electrode, and a current mirror that generates a mirror current based on the sensor current as mentioned in this paper.
Abstract: A capacitance sensing circuit may include a switching circuit configured to generate a sensor current by charging and discharging a capacitive sensor electrode, and a current mirror that generates a mirror current based on the sensor current. Based on the mirror current, a measurement circuit generates an output signal representative of a capacitance of the capacitive sensor electrode.

TL;DR: A security system that includes an inductive sensor commonly known as a "proximity sensor" or "variable reluctance sensor", an alarm unit, and a controller that allows a user to position the movable structure on which the sensor is mounted, e.g., a door or window, at a selected position and then arm the security system with the structure in that position to detect movement of the structure away from the selected position as discussed by the authors.
Abstract: A security system that includes an inductive sensor commonly known as a "proximity sensor" or "variable reluctance sensor", an alarm unit, and a controller that allows a user to position the movable structure on which the sensor is mounted, e.g., a door or window, at a selected position and then arm the security system with the structure in that position to detect movement of the structure away from the selected position. For example, the user may open a window on which the sensor is mounted and then arm the alarm to trigger upon detection of movement of the window from that position or, alternatively, only upon detection of further opening of the window or, alternatively, only upon detection of closing of the window. A user could thus open a window a small, selected amount to admit fresh air without triggering the security system or open a door a small, selected amount to receive a caller or allow pets to enter or leave the premises without triggering the security system.

TL;DR: In this paper, an inductive proximity sensor is described, which includes a resonator with a bifurcated inductance coupled to a plurality of transimpedance amplifiers.
Abstract: An inductive proximity sensor is disclosed. The proximity sensor includes a resonator with a bifurcated inductance coupled to a plurality of transimpedance amplifiers. A portion of the resonator is configured to generate eddy currents in a target containing metal. In various embodiments, the transimpedance amplifiers provide signals associated with eddy currents to a synchronous detector. Apparatus and methods for operating the inductive proximity sensor are disclosed.

TL;DR: In this article, the authors describe sensors, sensor arrays, and support fixtures which permit relative motion between the drive and sense elements, which facilitates the volumetric reconstruction of hidden features and objects.
Abstract: For the inspection of materials and the detection and characterization of hidden objects, features, or flaws sensors and sensor arrays are used to image form two-dimensional images suitable for characterizing the hidden features. Magnetic field or eddy current based inductive and giant magnetoresistive sensors may be used on magnetizable and conducting materials, while capacitive sensors can be used for dielectric materials. Enhanced drive windings and electrode structures permit nulling or cancellation of local fields in the vicinity of the sense elements to increase sensor sensitivity. The addition of calibration windings, which are not energized during measurements, allows absolute impedance and material property measurements with nulled sensors. Sensors, sensor arrays, and support fixtures are described which permit relative motion between the drive and sense elements. This facilitates the volumetric reconstruction of hidden features and objects.
