Abstract: The proximity sensor consists of a sensor system (1) on a circuit board (2) installed within a housing. In front of the sensor system (1) is an electrical conductor (4), the impedance of which is measured and evaluated with an electrical source which can produce a warning signal.The impedance is measured by the ohmic resistance of the electrical conductor (4) which may run at right angles over the sensor system (1) within the housing and may be form an electrical test coil terminating in a circuit to determine the damping of the sensor coil.

Abstract: A sensor and method of sensing is disclosed. The sensor is designed with a number of layers that are each able to sense a range of electromagnetic radiation. The sensor has two terminals for measuring the output signal of the sensor. The output signal of the sensor can be separated to identify the contributions to the output signal from each layer in order to determine the layer(s) that detected electromagnetic radiation. An array of sensors may be fabricated to increase the number of samples taken.

Abstract: A device (10) for the non-contact testing of internal threads (11) on workpieces (12) made of an electrically conductive material has a cylindrical sensor body (14) which can be inserted into the internal thread (11) to be tested, and inductive sensor elements (16-19) arranged circumferentially on the free end of the sensor body and operating on the eddy current loss principle. In order to achieve, with a device (10) of this type, in a rapid and simple way, a statement also about the diameter of the internal thread (11) to be tested, in an exact manner, without any potential eccentricity between the sensor body (14) and the internal thread (11) to be tested affecting the measurement, four inductive sensor elements (16-19) arranged distributed uniformly over the circumference of the sensor body (14) are provided. In this case, the sums of the outputs of the pairs of sensor elements (16-19) arranged offset are logically coupled to form an arithmetic mean value.

Abstract: A bicycle having a rear wheel including an axle, a hub shell, a torque element including a torque output portion and a torque input portion, and a rear cog coupled to the torque input portion. The torque output portion is a first radial distance from the torque input portion. The position sensor measures a rotational position of the torque input portion relative to the torque output portion. In one embodiment, the position sensor includes a displacement indicator (e.g., a radial tab mounted to the torque output portion) and a displacement sensor (e.g., an inductive sensor mounted to the torque input portion). The inductive sensor preferably has two sensing coils positioned on each side of the displacement indicator. The hub assembly can further comprise a wireless transmitter adapted to transmit data from the position sensor. The hub shell preferably includes a window that facilitates data transmission from the wireless transmitter.
