TL;DR: In this article, the outputs of multiphase power converters are combined to improve the transient response of the power conversion system, and the transformer is used to accomplish the combining function, achieving a great reduction in output ripple current and a simultaneous reduction in transistor ripple current.
Abstract: Methods and circuitry for combining the outputs of multiphase power converters which greatly improves the transient response of the power conversion system are presented in a variety of embodiments. Transformers (e.g., 59, 60, 61, 62) may be used to accomplish the combining function, and with properly phased and connected windings it is possible to achieve a great reduction in output ripple current and a simultaneous reduction in transistor ripple current, which give the designer freedom to reduce the value of the system output inductor (e.g., 68), improving transient response.

TL;DR: An integrated voltage regulator (IVR) is presented that uses custom fabricated thin-film magnetic power inductors that are fabricated on a silicon interposer and integrated with a multi-phase buck converter IC by 2.5D chip stacking.
Abstract: An integrated voltage regulator (IVR) is presented that uses custom fabricated thin-film magnetic power inductors. The inductors are fabricated on a silicon interposer and integrated with a multi-phase buck converter IC by 2.5D chip stacking. Several inductor design variations have been fabricated and tested. The best performance has been achieved with a set of eight coupled inductors that each occupies 0.245 mm2 and provides 12.5 nH with 270 mΩ DC. With early inductor prototypes, the IVR efficiency for a 1.8 V:1.0 V conversion ratio peaks at 71% with FEOL current density of 10.8 A/mm2 and inductor current density of 1.53 A/mm2. At maximum load current, 69% conversion efficiency and 1.8 V:1.2 V conversion ratio the FEOL current density reaches 22.6 A/mm2 and inductor current density reaches 3.21 A/mm2.

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors presented a reliable modular production quality excimer laser capable of producing 10 mJ laser pulses in the range of 1000 Hz to 2000 Hz or greater with the use of a high voltage power supply with a voltage bleed-down circuit.
Abstract: The present invention provides a reliable modular production quality excimer laser capable of producing 10 mJ laser pulses in the range of 1000 Hz to 2000 Hz or greater. Replaceable modules include a laser chamber (211); a pulse power system comprised of three modules; an optical resonator comprised of a line narrowing module (206) and an output coupler module (216); a wavemeter module (213), an electrical control module (205), a cooling water module (203) and a gas control module (202). Improvements in the pulse power unit to produce faster rise time and improved pulse energy control include: sn increased capacity high voltage power supply with a voltage bleed-down circuit for precise voltage trimming, an improved commutation module (209) that generates a high voltage pulse from the capacitors charged by the high voltage power supply (20) and amplifies the pulse voltage 23 times with a very fast voltage transformer having a secondary winding consisting of a single four-segment stainless steel rod. The compression head (207) saturable inductor greatly reduces the quantity of oil required and virtually eliminates the possibility of oil leakage.

TL;DR: In this paper, a unified control strategy that enables both islanded and grid-tied operations of three-phase inverter in distributed generation, with no need for switching between two corresponding controllers or critical islanding detection, is presented.
Abstract: This paper presents a unified control strategy that enables both islanded and grid-tied operations of three-phase inverter in distributed generation, with no need for switching between two corresponding controllers or critical islanding detection. The proposed control strategy composes of an inner inductor current loop, and a novel voltage loop in the synchronous reference frame. The inverter is regulated as a current source just by the inner inductor current loop in grid-tied operation, and the voltage controller is automatically activated to regulate the load voltage upon the occurrence of islanding. Furthermore, the waveforms of the grid current in the grid-tied mode and the load voltage in the islanding mode are distorted under nonlinear local load with the conventional strategy. And this issue is addressed by proposing a unified load current feedforward in this paper. Additionally, this paper presents the detailed analysis and the parameter design of the control strategy. Finally, the effectiveness of the proposed control strategy is validated by the simulation and experimental results.

TL;DR: The hardware realization and performance study of fractional inductors of order 0<α<2, and a generalized approach to design a fractional-order bandpass filter are presented.
Abstract: This paper presents the hardware realization and performance study of fractional inductors of order 0<α<2. The fractional inductors used in this work have been realized with the help of general impedance converter circuit and fractional capacitors. Impedance characterization of fractional inductors with different exponents has been carried out experimentally. Also a generalized approach to design a fractional-order bandpass filter is discussed in this work. The fractional-order bandpass filter consists of a series combination of a resistor, a fractional inductor of order 1<α<2, and a fractional capacitor of order 0<β<1. The performance of fractional-order bandpass filters has been studied and compared with corresponding integer-order filters through both experimentation and simulation.
