TL;DR: In this paper, a modular production quality excimer laser capable of producing 10 mJ laser pulses at 2000 Hz with a full width half, maximum bandwidth of about 0.6 pm or less.
Abstract: The present invention provides a reliable modular production quality excimer laser capable of producing 10 mJ laser pulses at 2000 Hz with a full width half, maximum bandwidth of about 0.6 pm or less. Replaceable modules include a laser chamber; a pulse power system comprised of three modules; an optical resonator comprised of a line narrowing module and an output coupler module; a wavemeter module, an electrical control module, a cooling water module and a gas control module. Improvements in the laser chamber permitting the higher pulse rates and improved bandwidth performance include a single upstream preionizer tube and a high efficiency chamber. The chamber is designed for operation at lower fluorine concentration. Important improvements have been provided in the pulse power unit to produce faster rise time and improved pulse energy control. These improvements include an increased capacity high voltage power supply with a voltage bleed-down circuit for precise voltage trimming, an improved commutation module that generates a high voltage pulse from the capacitors charged by the high voltage power supply and amplifies the pulse voltage 23 times with a very fast voltage transformer having a secondary winding consisting of a single four-segment stainless steel rod. A novel design for the compression head saturable inductor greatly reduces the quantity of transformer oil required and virtually eliminates the possibility of oil leakage which in the past has posed a hazard.

TL;DR: In this article, the authors presented a method for constructing a magnetic core of a coupled inductor, where the first and second magnetic cores may be formed into shapes that, when coupled together, may form a single scalable magnetic core.
Abstract: Methods and structures for constructing a magnetic core of a coupled inductor. The method provides for constructing N-phase coupled inductors as both single and scalable magnetic structures, where N is an integer greater than 1. The method additionally describes how such a construction of the magnetic core may enhance the benefits of using the scalable N-phase coupled inductor. The first and second magnetic cores may be formed into shapes that, when coupled together, may form a single scalable magnetic core. For example, the cores can be fashioned into shapes such as a U, an I, an H, a ring, a rectangle, and a comb, that cooperatively form the single magnetic core.

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors presented a high-frequency high-efficiency GaN device-based interleaved critical current mode (CRM) bidirectional buck/boost converter with an inverse coupled inductor.
Abstract: This paper presents a high-frequency high-efficiency GaN device-based interleaved critical current mode (CRM) bidirectional buck/boost converter with an inverse coupled inductor. The switching frequency is continually driven to megahertz range with GaN devices due to their small switching loss and driving loss, which greatly reduces the size of the passive components. The coupled inductor further reduces the core volume due to certain dc flux reductions. The equivalent inductance and the impact of the inverse coupled inductor on the CRM buck–boost converter are analyzed in detail. The resonant period in CRM is less with an inverse coupled inductor than with a noncoupled inductor, which is beneficial for the high-frequency operation. The soft-switching range and the circulating energy are both improved using an inverse coupled inductor in CRM. Experimental results validate the theoretical analysis, and the coupled inductor prototype efficiency is 98.5% at 1 MHz, which is 0.3% higher than a prototype with a noncoupled inductor.

TL;DR: In this article, a broadband monolithic microwave active inductor composed of two FETs and a resistor is proposed, which suppresses stray capacitance to yield a much higher-frequency operating range than a spiral inductor.
Abstract: A broadband monolithic microwave active inductor composed of two FETs and a resistor is proposed. The most significant innovation of the active inductor is considered to be a novel circuit structure which suppresses stray capacitance to yield a much higher-frequency operating range than a spiral inductor. The inductor is small and independent of the inductance value. The FET-oriented configuration allows a denser chip circuitry packing. A 0.1-10-GHz miniaturized wideband amplifier realized using the active inductors is described. >

TL;DR: In this article, an active resistor tunable from 400 to 1600 /spl Omega/ up to 10 GHz has been designed and an equivalent model has been extracted for a compact implementation of an intelligent RF front-end for multiband and multistandard applications.
Abstract: This paper presents reconfigurable RF integrated circuits (ICs) for a compact implementation of an intelligent RF front-end for multiband and multistandard applications. Reconfigurability has been addressed at each level starting from the basic elements to the RF blocks and the overall front-end architecture. An active resistor tunable from 400 to 1600 /spl Omega/ up to 10 GHz has been designed and an equivalent model has been extracted. A fully tunable active inductor using a tunable feedback resistor has been proposed that provides inductances between 0.1-15 nH with Q>50 in the C-band. To demonstrate reconfigurability at the block level, voltage-controlled oscillators with very wide tuning ranges have been implemented in the C-band using the proposed active inductor, as well as using a switched-spiral resonator with capacitive tuning. The ICs have been implemented using 0.18-/spl mu/m Si-CMOS and 0.18-/spl mu/m SiGe-BiCMOS technologies.
