TL;DR: In this article, a study of the longitudinal loads on a suspension tower and the dynamic response of a transmission line following a broken conductor or dropped insulator is presented, where a new technique for calculating the maximum impact load based upon the conservation of energy is explained.
Abstract: A review of a study of the longitudinal loads on a suspension tower and the dynamic response of aans- transmission line following a broken conductor or dropped insulator is presented. Included are the results of full-scale tests conducted on an existing electric transmission line. A new technique for calculating the maximum impact load based upon the conservation of energy is explained. Predicted values of the peak force using this technique are compared to the recorded test values and published data.

TL;DR: In this article, the authors used a commercial acoustic sensor along with artificial neural network (ANN) to classify different typical types of discharges in outdoor insulation systems, and achieved a recognition rate of more than 85%.
Abstract: Condition monitoring of outdoor insulation systems is crucial to the integrity of distribution and transmission overhead lines and substations. The objective of this study is to use a commercial acoustic sensor along with artificial neural network (ANN), to classify different typical types of discharges in outdoor insulation systems. First, ANN was used to distinguish between five common electrical discharges that were generated under controlled conditions. Next, this approach was extended to include outdoor ceramic insulators. Three types of defects were tested under laboratory conditions, i.e. a crack in the ceramic disc, surface pollution discharge, and corona near the insulator surface. Both a single disc, and three discs connected in an insulator string were tested with respect to these defects. For both controlled samples and full insulators, a recognition rate of more than 85% was achieved.

TL;DR: In this paper, a method and apparatus for producing a relatively thin, relatively uniform semiconductor layer which has improved carrier mobility has been presented, in which a lattice-matched insulator layer is formed on a semiconductor substrate, and a lattices-matched semiconductor layers are formed on the insulator layers to form a relatively thinner, relatively more uniform semiconductors on insulator apparatus.
Abstract: A method and apparatus for producing a relatively thin, relatively uniform semiconductor layer which has improved carrier mobility. In an embodiment, a lattice-matched insulator layer is formed on a semiconductor substrate, and a lattice-matched semiconductor layer is formed on the insulator layer to form a relatively thin, relatively uniform semiconductor on insulator apparatus. In embodiments of the method and apparatus, energy band characteristics may be used to facilitate the extraction of the well-region minority carriers.
