TL;DR: In this paper, the influence of the position of the porcelain insulators and the surface status (hydrophobic and hydrophilic) on their long-term performance was evaluated.
Abstract: RTV silicone rubber coatings have successfully helped traditional glass and porcelain insulators to avoid serious pollution flashover accidents. This paper presents experimental results of pollution withstand properties of partially coated porcelain insulators. The influence of the position of insulators was also evaluated. In order to evaluate the influence of both the position of the insulators and the surface status (hydrophobic and hydrophilic), three salt fog test series which combined these two factors were carried out. Leakage current was monitored during these tests as an indicator of the long term performance of the insulators. Finally, the measurement and analysis of the change of SDD on insulators with different positions before and after these tests was also performed to establish the relationship between insulator positions and their long term performance.

TL;DR: Highly tunable optical transmission through one-dimensional gold gratings patterned on top of a film of the phase transition material, vanadium dioxide (VO2), is demonstrated and dense electrical integration is enabled by grating features that also function as electrical contacts to the VO2.
Abstract: Highly tunable optical transmission through one-dimensional gold gratings patterned on top of a film of the phase transition material, vanadium dioxide (VO2), is demonstrated. Dense electrical integration is enabled by grating features that also function as electrical contacts to the VO2. Extraordinary optical transmission is observed in the VO2 insulator phase, and the optical transmission is extinguished by up to about 6 dB in a 170 nm thick VO2 film. Measurements of gratings with varying duty cycles demonstrate the dependence of the optical transmission and tuning on the device geometry.

TL;DR: In this article, the aging performance of silicone rubber (SIR) insulators in salt-fog was investigated and the effect of shed shape, shed spacing, shed diameter, alternate shed design, and shed shape was investigated.
Abstract: The paper presents the results of the study on the influence of insulator profile on the aging performance of silicone rubber (SIR) insulators in salt-fog. Experiments have been conducted on various two-shed arrangements at 35 V/mm average stress and 0.25 S/m salt-fog conductivity level. The work is also extended to include commercial 15 kV class insulators with different profiles. Shed spacing, shed diameter, alternate shed design and shed shape are the parameters investigated in this study. The low frequency harmonics of the leakage current, early aging period (EAP), and equivalent salt deposit density (ESDD), are used to evaluate the aging performance of different designs. Insulator profile is shown to greatly influence the aging performance of SIR insulators. Shed shape proves to be the most important parameter to be considered in designing non-ceramic insulators profiles. Also, as the shed spacing decreases, the performance of SIR insulators improves. Simulation results using FEMLAB show that the electric field on insulators is below the corona onset at both dry and wet conditions. Dry band arcing is therefore the main electrical cause for aging in distribution class insulators and it is possible to improve the pollution performance of SIR insulators using appropriate profiles as suggested in this work

TL;DR: In this article, an electric fuse is constructed between an electronic circuit and a redundant circuit as a spare of the electronic circuit, and the fuse can be cut by receiving the supply of an electric current from the outside.
Abstract: Provided is a semiconductor device having an electric fuse structure which receives the supply of an electric current to be permitted to be cut without damaging portions around the fuse. An electric fuse is electrically connected between an electronic circuit and a redundant circuit as a spare of the electronic circuit. After these circuits are sealed with a resin, the fuse can be cut by receiving the supply of an electric current from the outside. The electric fuse is formed in a fine layer, and is made of a main wiring and a barrier film. The linear expansion coefficient of each of the main wiring and the barrier film is larger than that of each of the insulator layers. The melting point of each of the main wiring and the barrier film is lower than that of each of the insulator layers.
