Abstract: We report the results of coincidence counting experiments at the output, of a Michelson interferometer using the zero-phonon-line emission of a single molecule at 1.4 K. Under continuous wave excitation, we observe the absence of coincidence counts as an indication of two-photon interference. This corresponds to the observation of Hong-Ou-Mandel correlations and proves the suitability of the zero-phonon-line emission of single molecules for applications in linear optics quantum computation.

Abstract: A compact magnetic field sensor has been proposed based on multimode interference effects. It consists of typical multimode interferometer (MMI) immersed into the magnetic fluid (MF) which is formed by a section of square no-core fiber (NCF) spliced between two single-mode fibers. The transmission spectral characteristics of this MMI have been analyzed, and the spectral magnetic response of the proposed sensor has been investigated by immersing the NCF into the MF environment. The transmission response of the interference maxima exhibits a sensitivity of −0.01939 dB/Oe in the relatively linear range. Due to its low cost and compactness, this sensor would find potential applications in the measurement of magnetic field.

Abstract: We investigate the temperature and voltage dependence of the quantum interference in an electronic Mach-Zehnder interferometer using edge channels in the integer quantum-Hall regime. The amplitude of the interference fringes is significantly smaller than expected from theory; nevertheless the functional dependence of the visibility on temperature and bias voltage agrees very well with theoretical predictions. Superimposed on the Aharonov-Bohm (AB) oscillations, a conductance oscillation with a six times smaller period is observed. The latter depends only on gate voltage and not on the AB phase, and may be related to single electron charging.

Abstract: Double-double-slit thought experiment provides profound insight on interference of quantum entangled particles. This paper presents a detailed experimental realisation of quantum double-double-slit thought experiment with momentum entangled photons and theoretical analysis of the experiment. Experiment is configured in such a way that photons are path entangled and each photon can reveal the which-slit path information of the other photon. As a consequence, single photon interference is suppressed. However, two-photon interference pattern appears if locations of detection of photons are correlated without revealing the which-slit path information. It is also shown experimentally and theoretically that two-photon quantum interference disappears when the which-slit path of a photon in the double-double-slit is detected.

Abstract: Error-rate performance of a digital FM with differential detection in the presence of both thermal Gaussian noise and cochannel interference is theoretically analyzed in the fast Rayleigh fading environment encountered in the typical UHF or microwave land mobile radio channels. The temporal correlation of the fades is included in the performance analysis. The error probability is presented by a simple closed form for the important situations where both effects of Gaussian noise and cochannel interference predominate in causing errors. Finally, a comparison with the other detection schemes, e.g., discriminator and coherent detections, is given.
