Abstract: The assumptions behind Internet architectures do not scale to small devices — they have a baseline cost that is still too high for small, few-dollar, embedded objects. This barrier either leaves many devices network disenfranchised or encourages the creation of segmented networks. Internet 0 attempts to enable pervasive computing and networking on the embedded level by providing the Internet protocol as a communications substrate, and, through the use of an end-to-end modulation scheme, to speak to devices. I0 is a framework to bridge together heterogeneous devices via IP in a manner that is still compatible with designing globally large computer networks.

Abstract: Studies indicate that the Internet has reached critical mass as a medium of communication and is being used by an increasing number of Americans. At the same time, however, research indicates that there are gaps in how various segments of the American population are using the Internet. To the extent that Internet usage produces tangible benefits, users of Internet communication will have advantages over non‐users as will high‐users over low‐users. This study reports the data analysis of a probability sample of users and non‐users of the Internet. Users were asked questions about Internet access variables (called “hurdles"), their frequency of Internet usage, and how much they gain economic, jobs, financial, political, and interpersonal communication benefits from their use of the Internet. Abstract: A system and method for provisioning Internet access to a computing device comprising an Internet access adjustment facilitator arranged to receive a request from the computing device for adjusting Internet access from a paid Internet access mode to a toll-free Internet access mode; and a whitelist in communication with the Internet access adjustment facilitator, the whitelist maintaining a list of web resources available for toll free access by the computing device; wherein upon successful processing of the request, the list of web resources are toll free for access by the computing device. The system may further be adapted for billing/charging based on either pay-per-specified-time model or pay per action model.

Abstract: In the era of networked information, Internet has emerged as the most powerful tool for instant access to information. For research- purposes, it is crystal clear that research is impossible without the services of the Internet. It has become the biggest global digital information library, which provides the fastest access to the needed information. The main objective of this study was to know the Internet use behavior, attitude and problems of the college students. An attempt was made to know Internet trends among college-students, period of using Internet, reasons of using Internet, the most widely used search engines, and Internet based e-mail services, uses and abuses of Internet etc. As Internet is an inseparable part of todays educational system, the areas covered in the review of literature also include origin of Internet, significance of internet, internet techniques & technologies, internet in United Kingdom, U.S.A. and in Pakistan. The findings of this study will be helpful for institutions providing the Internet services.
