TL;DR: The Wireless Internet Collaboration System allows wireless smartphones to be used for mathematics communication, that is, for the creation and exchange of mathematical formulas, diagrams, and text between two or more participants.
Abstract: The Wireless Internet Collaboration System allows wireless smartphones to be used for mathematics communication, that is, for the creation and exchange of mathematical formulas, diagrams, and text between two or more participants. The system solves the problem of providing the expressive power of mathematical notation on devices with limited input, output, and processing capabilities. The system also provides a turn-management protocol that supports mathematical dialogue between two or more participants who are geographically dispersed and thus cannot use gestures or glances for communication. The architecture of the system is extensible and can be adapted to heterogeneous and evolving hardware platforms.

TL;DR: A debugging protocol for embedded software development tools that supports several host-resident tools under the existence of RTOS is proposed and implemented and tested on Esto, a development tool for Internet based embedded applications.
Abstract: To develop the applications for Internet appliances, embedded software development tools need various host tools such as cross compilers and binary utilities as well as a remote debugger, an interactive shell, and real time resource monitors. The heavy host-target communication overhead and inconsistency caused by various host tools make target monitor programs more complex. The authors propose a debugging protocol for these tools that supports several host-resident tools under the existence of RTOS. To abstract the details of the target systems, we have developed a target agent running as a task on the RTOS. The target agent is the counterpart of the host agent that supports host tools through communication over UDP/IP. The proposed architecture is implemented and tested on Esto (Embedded Systems Toolset), a development tool for Internet based embedded applications.

TL;DR: In this paper, an Internet access system was proposed to reduce Internet traffic and delays in content presentation, which put together interactivity of the Internet and congestion-free content delivery inherent in broadcast radio and television.
Abstract: The invention is an Internet access system reducing Internet traffic and delays in content presentation. It puts together interactivity of the Internet and congestion-free content delivery inherent in broadcast radio and television. An access server located at a broadcast center receives clients requests for Internet objects (web pages, music files etc.) via a two-way medium, downloads from the Internet a single copy of that object no matter how many clients have requested the object and then retransmits the copy in a broadcast manner so that all clients requested the same object could download it simultaneously. The system provides a repeated transmission of objects in high demand to reduce interaction between Internet clients and access server while operating in two modes of content delivery: an immediate delivery on request and a planned delivery according to a schedule. In both modes users receive Internet content of their choice at the time of their choice.

TL;DR: This article describes specific EBDM‐related tools, with emphasis on internet‐enabled “how to” books; and tools to improve the quality of reporting research, to formulate questions and to search for evidence.
Abstract: At the dawn of the Information Age, the practice of evidence-based decision making (EBDM) is still hindered by many important barriers related to the decision makers, to the evidence per se or to the health system. Some of these barriers, particularly those related to the distillation, dissemination and packaging of research evidence, could be overcome by recent and ongoing developments in portable/wearable computers, internet appliances, multimedia and wireless broadband internet traffic. This article describes specific EBDM-related tools, with emphasis on internet-enabled “how to” books; and tools to improve the quality of reporting research, to formulate questions; to search for evidence; to access journals, systematic reviews and guidelines; to interact with organizations promoting EBDM; and to tailor evidence to individual cases. However, thinking that all barriers to the practice of EBDM could be solved by fancy information technology is naive. Barriers related to the generation, interpretation, integration and use of the evidence demand more complex and perhaps unfeasible solutions, as overcoming them will require substantial changes in the structure of the health system, in the politics of science and in the way in which humans think and behave.
