Abstract: An in-vehicle device data communicates with Internet based data processing resources for the purpose of transacting e-mail, e-commerce, and e-business. The in-vehicle device and the Internet based data processing resources can effectuate a wide variety of e-mail, e-commerce, and e-business including accessing auto part databases, warranty, customer, and other remote databases. In addition, e-mail, e-commerce, and e-business transactions can include vehicle security and vehicle service management, data communicating Internet based radio, audio, MP3, MPEG, video, and other types of data. Furthermore, e-mail, e-commerce, and e-business transactions can include interactive advertising, promotional offers, coupons, and supporting other remote data communications. The in-vehicle device can also include functionality for remote monitoring of vehicle performance, data communicating and accessing remote Internet based content and data, and effectuating adjustments and control of vehicle operation. Remote monitoring and control of vehicle operation can be by way of an Internet based data processing resource and can include engine control system programming and setting adjustment, vehicle monitoring, and transmission of vehicle telemetry and metric data. Vehicle telemetry and metric data can include global positioning system (GPS) data, vehicle operational data, engine performance data, and other vehicle data. The in-vehicle device can also wirelessly data communicate with a communication interface device (COM device) or an Internet appliance. Such COM devices or Internet appliances can data communicate wirelessly with an in-vehicle device and simultaneously data communicate in a wired or wireless mode of operation to Internet based data processing resources, and to other data processing resources.

Abstract: Aside from email and the world wide web, there are several other systems for distributing information on the Internet. Telnet is a system that allows you to log on to a remote computer from anywhere on the Internet and affords access to many useful biomedical sites on the Internet. File transfer protocol (FTP) is a method of transferring files from one computer to another over the Internet. It can be used to download files, including software, from numerous publicly accessible “anonymous FTP archives” around the world. Such archives can be searched using a tool known as Archie. Network News is a system of electronic discussion groups covering almost every imaginable subject, including many areas of medicine and the biomedical sciences; MOOs are virtual environments that allow real time electronic conferencing and teaching over the Internet. It is difficult to predict the future of medicine on the Internet. However, the net opens up many possibilities not available through previous technologies. It is now up to medical practitioners to realise the Internet's full potential. Telnet is a tool that allows you to use a remote computer on the Internet as if your computer were a terminal directly connected to it 1. The principal use of telnet is to manipulate files and run programs on a UNIX computer where you have an account. To create a telnet connection between your microcomputer and a UNIX machine elsewhere on the Internet, you need telnet client software such as NCSA Telnet for the Mac or DOS. You must supply the telnet program with the Internet address of the remote machine, then supply the remote machine with your login name and password. Abstract: Internet of things represents a groundbreaking vision of technological, economic and social significance. This paper is designed to help technology enthusiasts navigate the dialogue surrounding the same, be well versed in IoT and understand its potential to change everything we know to be true today. In this new era of technology, Internet of Things (IoT) has the true potential to make computing ubiquitous — a concept introduced by Mark Weiser in early 1990s. Machine to machine, computer to objects, environment to computers, intelligent systems — “The internet of everything”, is where the potential seems to be endless. IoT can be seen as a universal global neural network of connected things in the cloud where smart machines interact and communicate with other machines, objects, infrastructure and the environment. As a result of which, exponential amount of data is generated and processed into actions that has the ability to command and control things making our everyday life much easier. This paper concludes with a discussion around social and commercial issues likely to surface when Internet of Things becomes a household reality.
