TL;DR: In this paper, the authors apply DfR guidance to use test data to measure system reliability and identify and characterize reliability drivers and develop mitigation plans to increase system reliability, and provide a quantified measure of reliability growth.
Abstract: Design for Reliability (DfR) is focused on demand versus capability modeling, where demand is the functionality, environmental conditions and timing conditions that the customer needs from the system. Capability is the “as-designed” robustness of the system along with the design requirements specified for the system performance. The goal of the method described in this paper is to apply DfR guidance to use test data to measure system reliability. Test data is used to demonstrate improved system capability to satisfy customer demands. Applying DfR activities as a guide, allows engineers to identify and characterize reliability drivers and develop mitigation plans to increase system reliability and provide a quantified measure of reliability growth. Reliability drivers are prioritized to reduce the scope and cost of a reliability program and ensure appropriate attention is placed on high risk capability concerns.

TL;DR: The authors describe the 1988 edition of the Bellcore Reliability Prediction Procedure for electronic equipment (RPP), with particular emphasis on additions and improvements incorporated in the last four year.
Abstract: The authors describe the 1988 edition of the Bellcore Reliability Prediction Procedure for electronic equipment (RPP), with particular emphasis on additions and improvements incorporated in the last four year. They also describe a software system developed by Bellcore to mechanize generation of RPP predictions. The RPP and its automated version, the ARPP, include formulas for both steady-state and infant mortality reliability prediction. In addition to generic reliability prediction, the RPP/ARPP includes methods for reliability prediction using laboratory life test data and field reliability data. >

TL;DR: Issues in reliability assessment of performance measures are discussed, and the reliability analysis of a scoring scheme used in the work is presented.
Abstract: An important goal of human-computer interaction research is the reliable measurement of user performance. Although a fair amount of attention has been devoted to assessing the reliability and validity of paper-and-pencil measures of user satisfaction and other components of usability, reliability statistics for performance measures are rarely presented. Issues in reliability assessment of performance measures are discussed, and the reliability analysis of a scoring scheme used in our work is presented.
