TL;DR: An underground taut wire intrusion detection system includes a sensor wire enclosed within a conduit adapted to be buried in the ground, the conduit being sufficiently rigid so as to be collapse-resistant when buried in a ground, but being sufficiently flexible in its length such that when disturbed by an attempted intruder the disturbance is transferred to the sensor wire to cause it to actuate a detector.

TL;DR: In this article, a taut wire intrusion detection system for a fence includes a testing device adapted to be actuated from a central station to apply a mechanical force to the fence wire in order to cause it to simulate an intrusion.
Abstract: A taut wire intrusion detection system for a fence includes a testing device adapted to be actuated from a central station to apply a mechanical force to the fence wire in order to cause it to simulate an intrusion. The system further includes a testing circuit at the central station for actuating the testing device, and an indicator at the central station which receives the signal from the detector, and thereby indicates the actual response of the detector to the mechanical force.

TL;DR: A system has been developed to aid in assessing intrusion alarms, designed for use by an operator with no knowledge of computers, and most of the assessment functions can be performed with single keystrokes.
Abstract: A system has been developed to aid in assessing intrusion alarms. Capabilities include color graphic and text displays, prioritized alarms, a high-speed dual loop communications system, a customized function keyboard for operator input and microprocessor controlled Closed Circuit Television (CCTV) and videodisc recording subsystems. The system, which is implemented on an DEC LSI-11/23 utilizing RSX-11S, is designed for use by an operator with no knowledge of computers. Most of the assessment functions can be performed with single keystrokes. During multi-alarm situations, the system manages the display, presenting information about the highest priority alarms to aid in operator assessment. Although the system prioritizes alarms, the operator is free to assess alarms in any order. The system supports multicenter operations. One center is responsible for assessing all alarms and is monitored and backed up by another center.
