TL;DR: In this article, the authors present a system and method for managing wireless devices that includes identifying a mobile device including a cellular technology module 306 configured to communicate with a cellular network 106a using cellular technology and a broadband technology module 308 configured to communication with a broadband network 106b using broadband technology.
Abstract: The present disclosure includes a system and method for managing wireless devices. In some embodiments, a method includes identifying a mobile device 102 including a cellular technology module 306 configured to communicate with a cellular network 106a using a cellular technology and a broadband technology module 308 configured to communicate with a broadband network 106b using a broadband technology. IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS) services are provided in a broadband technology communication session communicated over the broadband network 106b.

TL;DR: Developments of Web-based information systems and IP telephony in order to enable future e-commerce applications are summarized.
Abstract: By fostering the finalization of open standards and the convergence of voice, video, and data, the Internet protocol provides an ideal driver for the definition of the infrastructure for new multimedia and advanced communications applications. Voice over IP represents not only the chance to achieve cost-effective real-time voice communication over IP-based networks, but also the opportunity to build an integrated and open communications service delivery infrastructure. Developments of Web-based information systems and IP telephony in order to enable future e-commerce applications are summarized.

TL;DR: In this article, the authors present a method and apparatus for handling trust in an IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS) network, where a node receives a Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) message from a remote node.
Abstract: A method and apparatus for handling trust in an IP Multimedia Subsystem network. A node in the IP Multimedia Subsystem network receives a Session Initiation Protocol message from a remote node. The message includes an indicator indicating the level of trust of a communication sent from the remote node to the IP Multimedia Subsystem node. The node can then apply a security policy to the message, the security policy being determined by the indicator.

TL;DR: This paper analyzes the performance and quantifies the benefits of having the SIP servers running on the same host, and introduces Lucent Technologies' SIPia BUS software architecture, which implements the co-location capability by introducing a new SIP transport in a way that is both natural and non-disruptive for theSIP stack and the Sip user agent.
Abstract: The IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS) is an architecture for supporting multimedia services via a Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) infrastructure. IMS, specified by the 3rd Generation Partnership Project (3GPP), is increasingly adopted as the reference multimedia network architecture by providers of wireline and wireless infrastructure and associated multimedia application services. One of the characteristics of the IMS architecture is that many different and mandatory SIP proxies are used for each end-to-end SIP session. This may adversely impact the overall IMS call processing performance, which is already affected by the universal usage of SIP. This also makes each end-to-end SIP session dependent on the good functioning of many hosts, which decreases reliability while increasing significantly the end-to-end message latency. This paper analyzes the performance and quantifies the benefits of having the SIP servers running on the same host. It then explains which types of SIP calls in the IMS network can benefit from the co-location of IMS servers and shows how to design the IMS network to maximize IMS server co-location. Finally, it introduces Lucent Technologies' SIPia BUS software architecture, which implements the co-location capability by introducing a new SIP transport in a way that is both natural and non-disruptive for the SIP stack and the SIP user agent.

TL;DR: In this paper, a unified way to manage incoming calls is provided for users who have both a public switched telephone network (PSTN) telephone and a computer workstation with a multimedia data communications client such as a client specified in International Telecommunication Union (ITU) Standard H.323.
Abstract: Method and apparatus for integrated multimedia call control. A unified way to manage incoming calls is provided for users who have both a public switched telephone network (PSTN) telephone and a computer workstation with a multimedia data communications client such as a client specified in International Telecommunication Union (ITU) Standard H.323. Calls from a PSTN phone in the network can be routed either to the user's PSTN telephone or the audio handling portion of the user's multimedia data communications client software. The audio portion of calls from a multimedia data communication client in the network can be routed either to the user's PSTN telephone or to the audio portion of the user's multimedia data communication client. Users can thus control PSTN and multimedia internet telephony calls in a consistent manner.
