TL;DR: This paper aims to provide an overview of the IMS service control architecture focusing on the rational of the decisions taken in 3GPP.
Abstract: The 3 rd Generation Partnership Project (3GPP)'s UMTS networks promise to deliver an abundance of advanced, innovative, and feature-rich applications to end-users in a 3 rd Generation (3G) wireless environment. An IP Multimedia core network Subsystem is being introduced as part of this 3G wireless environment which aims to enable the convergence of, and access to, voice, video, messaging, data and web-based technologies for the wireless user. The goal is to combine the growth of the Internet with the growth in mobile communications. The service control architecture for the IMS can be summarised as consisting of an Application Server, providing the execution environment for the applications, and communicating with the Call State Control Function that handles the session control and mobility management functionality. Three general sets of standardised platforms for service control are being introduced in the UMTS' IMS, each one addressing particular needs, from legacy service support to light weight SIP based support. This paper aims to provide an overview of the IMS service control architecture focusing on the rational of the decisions taken in 3GPP.

TL;DR: In this article, a service-related session is transferred between a service and an application on the basis of the authentication information transmitted by the first terminal (TE1) and the second terminal(TE2), which is connected to the IP multimedia access network.
Abstract: A method, system and application server for transferring a service-related session. The data communications system comprises an IP multimedia access network (IMS); an authentication system (AUTH) connected to the IP multimedia access network (IMS); a first terminal (TE1), by which a user connects to the IP multimedia access network (IMS); and a second terminal (TE2), which is connected to the IP multimedia access network (IMS). The first terminal (TE1) is used for authenticating to the IP multimedia access network (IMS) and for establishing a session with a service. The second terminal (TE2) is associated with the user's information in the authentication system (AUTH), and a service session is established between the second terminal (TE2) and the service (SERV) on the basis of authentication information transmitted by the first terminal (TE1).

TL;DR: This document specifies the Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) P-User- Database Private- Header (P-header), used in the 3rd-Generation Partnership Project (3GPP) IMS (IP Multimedia Subsystem) to provide SIP registrars and SIP proxy servers with the address of the database that contains the user profile of the user that generated a particular request.
Abstract: This document specifies the Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) P-User- Database Private-Header (P-header). This header field is used in the 3rd-Generation Partnership Project (3GPP) IMS (IP Multimedia Subsystem) to provide SIP registrars and SIP proxy servers with the address of the database that contains the user profile of the user that generated a particular request. TL;DR: The solution consists of creating public and private keypairs for VoLTE user equipments (UEs) and storing the public keys in the Ethereum Blockchain and the media is encrypted e2e using the Secure Real Time Protocol (SRTP) protocol with a variety of session key distribution mechanisms.
Abstract: Voice over Long Term Evolution (VoLTE) technology defines standards to deliver real-time services such as voice and video over LTE based on IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS) networks. The security implementation in VoLTE is End-to-Access (e2a), which means that the sessions are only encrypted between the mobile terminals and the IMS network. In this paper we propose a new approach for securing End-to-End (e2e) VoLTE media based the Ethereum Blockchain. The solution consists of creating public and private keypairs for VoLTE user equipments (UEs) and storing the public keys in the Ethereum Blockchain. The media is encrypted e2e using the Secure Real Time Protocol (SRTP) protocol with a variety of session key distribution mechanisms. Results showed that the solution implementation has minimal impact on the existing IMS network, and the secure call setup time between two terminals is negligible compared to the original VoLTE setup time.

TL;DR: Some of the key resource management issues that need to be addressed in the context of future wireless mobile networks that support multimedia communications while ensuring quality of service guarantees are discussed.
Abstract: Broadband multimedia services and wireless services are becoming very popular. They are presently the two major drivers in the telecommunication industry. It is expected that wireless mobile users' demands for multimedia mobile services will rapidly increase in the future. The paper starts by presenting the evolution of wireless networks to support future integrated multimedia wireless personal services and highlight the need for efficient resource management. The limited resources in wireless systems, such as spectrum resource and transmitter power also stress the need for efficient resource management. Emphasis is given in the paper to the discussion of the channel allocation, mobility management, and bandwidth distribution problems. A review of some approaches proposed in the literature to solve these problems is presented. Finally, the paper discusses some of the key resource management issues that need to be addressed in the context of future wireless mobile networks that support multimedia communications while ensuring quality of service guarantees.
