06 Nov 2000TL;DR: In this paper, a method and a system for transmitting messages containing multimedia information or content that enables transmission and communication of multimedia messages between subscribers connected to telecommunication systems of different system operators is presented.
Abstract: A method and a system for transmitting messages containing multimedia information or content that enables transmission and communication of multimedia messages between subscribers connected to telecommunication systems of different system operators. The inventive system includes a first mobile station terminal from which a multimedia message is sent, a second mobile station terminal that is the intended recipient of the multimedia message, a digital mobile network, a first multimedia message server for receiving a multimedia message from the first mobile station terminal, a first address database associated with the first multimedia message server, a second multimedia message server for receiving the multimedia message from the first multimedia message server, an IP network for carrying communications between the first and second multimedia message servers, and a second address database associated with the second multimedia message server.

04 Jul 2011TL;DR: Experimental results indicate that the proposed mechanism improves system performance by allocating resources according to service priority and the proposed architecture also significantly improves system capacity to accommodate numerous users.
Abstract: A novel IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS) framework with cloud computing architecture is proposed for use in high-quality multimedia applications. The IMS supports heterogeneous networking with Quality-of-Service (QoS) policy. MapReduce analysis is also used to enhance cloud computing capability. This architecture enables users to access high-quality multimedia applications via Android-based appliances. In this study, the IMS QoS policies of three wireless access technologies, 3G, WiFi and WiMAX, are integrated in a cloud computing environment to provide different services such as VoIP services and video streaming services. Experimental results indicate that the proposed mechanism improves system performance by allocating resources according to service priority. The proposed architecture also significantly improves system capacity to accommodate numerous users.

20 Jan 2010TL;DR: In this paper, the authors propose a method for facilitating access to a second service (e.g. IPTV, IP Television) when the user registers with a network for a first service (i.e. IMS, IP Multimedia Subsystem service, or 2G mobile service).
Abstract: A User Equipment (UE), a Home Subscriber Server (HSS), and methods are provided for facilitating access to a second service (e.g. IPTV, IP Television) when the user registers with a network for a first service (e.g. IMS, IP Multimedia Subsystem service, or 2G mobile service). For example, the user employs his mobile terminal to register for IMS service, then requests a security token for the provision of the second service. The network validates the user subscription and provides the security token associated with the 2 nd service, e.g. with IPTV. The user can input the security token for obtaining access to the 2 nd service, e.g. from another terminal. For example, the user can input the token, e.g. in the form of a PIN code, on an ITF (IP Television Terminal Function) to be provided personalised IPTV service, or for performing IPTV parental control on his IPTV subscription involving multiple users.

TL;DR: A potential management architecture service providers will need for the management of enhanced IP services for their customers, considering problems such as multiprovider services and service automation is described.
Abstract: New emerging IP services based on differentiated services and the IP security architecture offer the level of communication support that corporate Internet applications need nowadays. However, these services add an additional degree of complexity to IP networks which will require sophisticated management support. The management of enhanced IP services for their customers is thus an emerging important task for Internet service providers. This article describes a potential management architecture service providers will need for that task, considering problems such as multiprovider services and service automation. We focus on a quality-enhanced virtual private network service which is particularly useful for corporate internetworking.

31 Mar 2008TL;DR: This paper suggests an efficient solution for protecting the IMS networks from DoS attacks based on the session initiation protocol (SIP) which is gaining more and more acceptance in the VoIP market.
Abstract: The IP multimedia subsystem (IMS) is an open IP based service infrastructure that enables an easy deployment of new rich multimedia services mixing voice and data. The IMS is considered as a next generation service delivery platform (SDP) on top of different wireless and wire line access networks. It is based on the session initiation protocol (SIP) which is gaining more and more acceptance in the VoIP market. As an emerging technology, the SIP standard will certainly be the target of denial of service (DoS) attacks and consequently IMS will also inherit this problem. Therefore, it is very important to protect IMS resources from DoS threats. In this paper, we suggest an efficient solution for protecting the IMS networks from such attacks.
