04 Nov 2005TL;DR: In this article, the E911 registration assistance for subscribers using portable Internet Protocol (IP) communications devices is described, where an IP address of a portable IP communications device is stored.
Abstract: Methods, systems, and computer program products for E911 registration assistance for subscribers using portable Internet Protocol (IP) communications devices are disclosed. According to one method, an IP address of a portable IP communications device is stored. A message is received that indicates an IP address of the portable IP communications device. Next, it is determined whether a difference between the stored IP address and the received IP address indicated by the registration message indicates a change in geographic location of the portable IP communications device. In response to determining that the difference between the stored IP address and the IP address indicated by the received message indicates a change in geographic location of the portable IP communications device, a subscriber is prompted to update stored geographic location information for providing E911 service to the subscriber.

29 Dec 2006TL;DR: In this article, a wireless communication method and system for initiating the establishment, modification and termination of broadcast and multicast services using an Internet protocol (IP) multimedia subsystem (IMS) is presented.
Abstract: A wireless communication method and system for initiating the establishment, modification and termination of broadcast and multicast bearer services using an Internet protocol (IP) multimedia subsystem (IMS). The system includes an IMS domain, a multimedia broadcast/multicast services (MBMS) application server (AS) and a cellular network. The IMS domain includes an IMS AS, a media resource function control (MRFC) server and a media resource function processor (MRFP). A user equipment (UE) sends a session initiation protocol (SIP) INVITE message to the MRFC server via the cellular network, a proxy call state control function (P-CSCF) of the IMS AS and a serving call state control function (S-CSCF) of the IMS AS, for establishing an IMS-based MBMS session to the MBMS AS. If the UE is allowed to establish the IMS-based MBMS session, the UE receives multimedia support services to establish uplink and downlink connectivity to the MBMS AS.

28 Apr 2002TL;DR: The purpose of the document is to describe how the EURESCOM project P1013 FIT-MIP evaluates the use of Mobile IP in an IP core network, acting as a mobility management protocol federating heterogeneous access network technologies such as PSTN, WLAN or GPRS.
Abstract: The purpose of the document is to describe how the EURESCOM project P1013 FIT-MIP evaluates the use of Mobile IP in an IP core network, acting as a mobility management protocol federating heterogeneous access network technologies such as PSTN, WLAN or GPRS. The aim is to provide a wide IP environment with an always-on access to IP applications (VoIP, VPN, mobile Internet, etc.), Mobile IP functionalities enabling seamless mobility through the various networks.

20 Oct 2010TL;DR: In this article, a user equipment (UE) is made aware of all Internet Protocol (IP) multimedia subsystem (IMS) applications installed in its memory and on a universal integrated circuit card (UICC) and supported communication services.
Abstract: To consolidate session initiation protocol (SIP) messages a user equipment (UE) is made aware of all Internet Protocol (IP) multimedia subsystem (IMS) applications installed in its memory and on a universal integrated circuit card (UICC) and supported communication services. By obtaining this information before the initial IMS Registration, the UE can save resources by registering all local applications and communication services in single IMS registration.
