TL;DR: This paper proposes a Graph Neural Network (GNN)-based algorithm which exploits Virtual Network Function Forwarding Graph (VNF-FG) topology information to predict future resource requirements for each Virtual network Function Component (VNFC).
Abstract: Network Functions Virtualisation (NFV) continues to gain attention as a paradigm shift in the way telecommunications services are deployed and managed. By separating Network Functions (NFs) from traditional middleboxes, NFV is expected to lead to reduced CAPEX and OPEX, and to more agile services. However, one of the main challenges to achieving these objectives is on how physical resources can be efficiently, autonomously, and dynamically allocated to Virtualised Network Functions (VNFs) whose resource requirements ebb and flow. In this paper, we propose a Graph Neural Network (GNN)-based algorithm which exploits Virtual Network Function Forwarding Graph (VNF-FG) topology information to predict future resource requirements for each Virtual Network Function Component (VNFC). The topology information of each VNFC is derived from combining its past resource utilisation as well as the modelled effect on the same from VNFCs in its neighbourhood. Our proposal has been evaluated using a deployment of a virtualised IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS), and real VoIP traffic traces, with results showing an average prediction accuracy of 90%. Moreover, compared to a scenario where resources are allocated manually and/or statically, our proposal reduces the average number of dropped calls by at least 27% and improves call setup latency by over 29%.

TL;DR: Studying several interconnection scenarios and the main functionalities of IMS, this article analyzes how the interconnection of 3GPP and WLAN networks may be performed in order to support different levels of service interconnection.
Abstract: The 3GPP has specified the IP multimedia subsystem (IMS) for the provisioning of multimedia services in UMTS Release 5 and later. Interconnection at the service layer between 3GPP and LAN networks requires interworking between IMS and WLAN functionalities. Studying several interconnection scenarios and the main functionalities of IMS, this article analyzes how the interconnection of 3GPP and WLAN networks may be performed in order to support different levels of service interconnection. Special attention is paid to interconnection at the session negotiation level, using SIP (the base protocol of the IMS) to provide session negotiation with QoS and AAAC support.

TL;DR: The results of this study show that the evolutionary classifiers like sUpervised Classifier System (UCS) and Genetic clASSIfier sySTem (GAssist) can even detect low intensity SIP floods in realtime.
Abstract: The Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) is the de facto standard for user's session control in the next generation Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) networks based on the IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS) framework. In this paper, we first analyze the role of SIP based floods in the Denial of Service (DoS) attacks on the IMS. Afterwards, we present an online intrusion detection framework for detection of such attacks. We analyze the role of different evolutionary and non-evolutionary classifiers on the classification accuracy of the proposed framework. We have evaluated the performance of our intrusion detection framework on a traffic in which SIP floods of varying intensities are injected. The results of our study show that the evolutionary classifiers like sUpervised Classifier System (UCS) and Genetic clASSIfier sySTem (GAssist) can even detect low intensity SIP floods in realtime. Finally, we formulate a set of specific guidelines that can help VoIP service providers in customizing our intrusion detection framework by selecting an appropriate classifier-depending on their requirements in different service scenarios.

TL;DR: In this paper, a system and method for multi-telecommunication over a local IP network is presented, which includes an IP network, a Local IP Network (LIPN), a home gateway connected to the IP network and the local IP Network, assigning an ID and a port to each terminal to differentiate terminals sharing one IP address in processing an incoming call and an outgoing call, and converting IP and port information in the header and payload of a received or transmitted packet according to an assigned ID and port number.
Abstract: A system and method for multi-telecommunication over a local IP network are provided. The multi-telecommunication system includes an IP network, a local IP network, a plurality of terminals connected to the local IP network, for conducting a voice call or a video call over the local IP network, a home gateway connected to the IP network and the local IP network, for interfacing between the IP network and the plurality of terminals, assigning an ID and a port to each terminal to differentiate terminals sharing one IP address in processing an incoming call and an outgoing call, and converting IP and port information in the header and payload of a received or transmitted packet according to an assigned ID and port number, and a gatekeeper connected to the IP network, for performing registration and call connection admission and managing the state of the IP network.

TL;DR: In this article, a method and system for providing circuit-switched to IP Multimedia Subsystem voice call continuity with a single radio is presented, which takes advantage of a standard RANAP signaling procedure called "directed retry" to perform a much better coordination between the change in radio mode and the transfer of the media path.
Abstract: A method and system for providing circuit-switched to IP Multimedia Subsystem voice call continuity with a single radio are provided The exemplary embodiment takes advantage of a standard RANAP signaling procedure called “directed retry” to perform a much better coordination between the change in radio mode and the transfer of the media path With the use of “directed retry”, the transfer of the media path does not begin until the handover procedure is complete, thus significantly reducing the likely amount of media disruption
