TL;DR: The findings indicate that individual furocoumarins differ enormously in their photomutagenic potency, and that a specific toxicological risk assessment is required for each furo coumarin instead of an assessment based on the sum of furoCou marins in a given sample.

TL;DR: In this paper, from hexane extract of Foeniculum vulgare mill, the fatty acids, hydrocarbons and sterols were identified, including furocoumarins imperatorin, pso ralen, bergapten, xanthotoxin and isopimpinellin.
Abstract: From hexane extract of Foeniculum vulgare Mill. Subsp. piperitum the fatty acids, hydrocarbons and sterols were identified. The furocoumarins imperatorin, pso ralen, bergapten, xanthotoxin and isopimpinellin were isolated from the methylene chloride extract. The flavonoids isorhamnetin 3- O-α-rhamnoside, quercetin and kaempferol were isolated from the ethyl acetate extract, whereas quercetin 3-Orutinoside, kaempferol 3-O-rutinoside and quercetin 3-O- β-glucoside were isolated from the methanol extract. The crude hexane, methylene chloride, ethyl acetate and methanol extracts of this plant showed antinociceptive and anti-inflammatory activity.

TL;DR: To investigate the difference in chemical constituents of Evodia species, eleven compounds were isolated with chromatography from 95% ethanol extract of the aboveground parts of E.vestia for the first time.
Abstract: To investigate the difference in chemical constituents of Evodia species, eleven compounds were isolated with chromatography from 95% ethanol extract of the aboveground parts of Evestia for the first timeOn the basis of spectral data, they were determined as bergapten(1),xanthotoxin(2),isopimpinellin(3),esculetin(4),scopoletin(5),skimmianine(6),confusameline(7),dictamine(8),marmesin(9),obacunone(10),and limonin(11)The important indole and indoloquinazolin alkaloids found in other species of Evodia were not obtained from this experiment

TL;DR: The data suggest that Peucedanum zenkeri seed extract contains antibacterial agents which are active against Salmonella species causing typhoid and paratyphoid fevers, and some bacteria strains causing urogenital infections.
Abstract: Objective: In a search for natural substances with potential for the treatment of typhoid fevers and urogenital infections, the methylene chloride extract of the seeds of Peucedanum zenkeri was investigated. Methodology: The extract was subjected to column chromatography leading to the isolation of seven compounds. Their structures were determined using modern 2D NMR techniques and by comparison with published NMR data. These compounds were tested against Salmonella typhi, Salmonella paratyphi B, Escherichia coli, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Klebsiella pneumoniae and Staphylococcus aureus, using both agar diffusion and broth dilution techniques. Results: The compounds isolated were umbelliprenin (1), prangenin (2), imperatorin (3), isopimpinellin (4), bergapten (5), cnidilin (6) and stigmasterol (7). Among the above seven compounds, only two (1 and 2) exhibited antibacterial activity. For compound 1, the MIC value was 300 µg/ml against P. aeruginosa, S. aureus, S. typhi and S. paratyphi B. For compound 2, the MIC values varied between 200 and 300 µg/ml against all the bacteria strains tested. Conclusion: These data suggest that Peucedanum zenkeri seed extract contains antibacterial agents which are active against Salmonella species causing typhoid and paratyphoid fevers, and some bacteria strains causing urogenital infections. The antibacterial activity of compound 2 appears to be due to the epoxide group present in its structure.

TL;DR: In addition to the previously known coumarin constituents (xanthotoxin, imperatorin, bergapten, isopimpinellin and marmesin) of Ammi majus L. fruits, a further product has been isolated as discussed by the authors.
Abstract: In addition to the previously known coumarin constituents (xanthotoxin, imperatorin, bergapten, isopimpinellin and marmesin) of Ammi majus L. fruits, a further product has been isolated. On the basis of chemical and physical evidence, the new component was proved to be isoimperatorin (VII).
