TL;DR: In this paper, the isomerization of methyl linoleate was studied on ruthenium (5%) on carbon in the temperature range 200-270 C with different solvents.
Abstract: Kinetics of isomerization of methyl linoleate are studied on ruthenium (5%) on carbon in the temperature range 200–270 C with different solvents. Some equilibrium experiments also are carried out with rhodium and ruthenium catalysts. The reactions taking place are isomerization, hydrogenation and polymerization. The activities and the selectivities are dependent on the nature of the solvent used. Highly protic solvents like methanol or isopropyl alcohol exhibited very high activity and selectivity for hydrogenation, whereas aprotic solvents like hexane or cyclohexane showed very high selectivities for isomerization reaction. The reaction kinetics were found to be further complicated by polymer formation at low solvent concentrations. The effects of temperature, solvent concentration, catalyst quantity and time of reaction also were investigated.

TL;DR: The quaternary ammonium salt having formula (I) is a fabric softening compound that is soluble in water and/or isopropyl alcohol to form a true solution, wherein the compound is clear and colorless at 70oF as discussed by the authors.
Abstract: A novel composition of matter, the quaternary ammonium salt having formula (I), wherein X- is Cl-, I-, Br-, or OSO3CH3-, which forms a fabric softening compound that is soluble in water and/or isopropyl alcohol to form a true solution, wherein the compound is clear and colorless at 70oF. The compound remains as a solution in water even at composition/water weight ratios of 75:25.

TL;DR: In this paper, a high-silica zeolite, H-ZSM-5 with Si/Al ratio of 37, showed an exceptionally high activity, while it was less active in the reaction with tert-butyl alcohol or 1-adamantanol.
Abstract: Catalytic synthesis of N -alkylacrylamides, which are useful monomers for functional polymers, from acrylonitrile and alcohols, such as 1-adamantanol, tert -butyl alcohol, and isopropyl alcohol has been studied using various solid acids including heteropoly compounds and zeolites. For the reaction with 1-adamantanol or tert -butyl alcohol, a heteropoly compound, Cs 2.5 H 0.5 PW 12 O 40 , exhibited a high catalytic performance and water-tolerance. On the other hand, for the synthesis of N -isopropylacrylamide from isopropyl alcohol, a high-silica zeolite, H-ZSM-5 with Si/Al ratio of 37, showed an exceptionally high activity, while it was less active in the reaction with tert -butyl alcohol or 1-adamantanol. This marked effect of reactant alcohol observed for H-ZSM-5 is probably due to shape selectivity. The prominent performance for N -isopropylacrylamide synthesis is attributable to a steric effect of the constrained pores; two reactants might be arranged adequately to form an intermediate in the pores.
