TL;DR: In this article, the effect of temperature and initial molar isopropanol-isobutene ratio, R A O, on byproducts formation in IPTBE synthesis in the presence of the resin Bayer K-2631 was determined.
Abstract: The effect of temperature and of the initial molar isopropanol-isobutene ratio, R A O , on byproducts formation in isopropyl tert-butyl ether (IPTBE) synthesis in the presence of the resin Bayer K-2631 were determined. The formation of diisopropyl ether, diisobutene (2,4,4-trimethyl-l-pentene, and 2,4,4-trimethyl-2-pentene isomers), and tert-butanol was studied in the temperature range 30–80°C, with R A 0 ranging from 1.0 to 4.3. The formation of tert-butanol is fast, and it reaches quickly the chemical equilibrium. The extent of the reaction is therefore limited by the amount of available water. The reactions forming 2,4,4-trimethyl-l-pentene, and 2,4,4-trimethyl-2-pentene take place gradually in the whole temperature range explored, whereas diisopropyl ether formation only occurs over 60°C once the reaction of IPTBE synthesis is close to equilibrium. These reactions are favoured by high temperatures. Low R A 0 values favour isobutene dimerization and ten-butanol formation. The effect of R A 0 on the reaction forming diisopropyl ether is negligible.

TL;DR: In this paper, a cost effective process for the synthesis of 1-(9H-carbazol-4yloxy)-3-[[2-(2-methoxyphenoxy)ethyl]amino]-propan-2-ol, (carvedilol phosphate) of formula (II) with high yields and purity is disclosed.
Abstract: A novel cost effective process for the synthesis of phosphate salts of 1-(9H-carbazol-4yloxy)-3-[[2-(2-methoxyphenoxy)ethyl]amino]-propan-2-ol, (carvedilol phosphate) of formula (II) with high yields and purity is disclosed. More particularly, the invention discloses a process for preparation of crystalline phosphate salts of carvedilol using various phosphate forming reagents such as phosphorous pentoxide, polyphosphoric acid, dipotassium hydrogen phosphate, ammonium dihydrogen ortho phosphate, and sodium dihydrogen ortho phosphate in solvents selected from Acetonitrile, acetone and tetrahydrofuran. The solvents used to prepare solvates of carvedilol dihydrogen phosphate are methanol, ethanol and isopropyl alcohol.

Abstract: PURPOSE: To obtain the subject composition used for imparting flexibility to thin paper such as tissue paper, toilet paper or paper towel by compounding a specific compound, glycerol, water, etc., in a specific ratio. CONSTITUTION: The objective composition comprises (A) 40-95wt.% of a compound of formula I (R 1 , R 2 are 12-24C hydrocarbon; AO is C 2 H 4 O, C 3 H 6 O; (n) is 2-25; X is halogen or CH 3 SO 4 ) and having an iodine value of 12-110, (e.g. a compound of formula II), (B) 3-50wt.% of glycerol and (C) 2-30wt.% of water or a ≤4C aliphatic alcohol (e.g. isopropyl alcohol). TL;DR: In this paper, the afterglow of a photo-triggered discharge, which generates an homogeneous transient non-equilibrium plasma, using a time resolved absorption measurement method, is measured in absolute value in theafterglow, and experimental results are compared to predictions of a self-consistent 0D discharge and kinetic model.
Abstract: The kinetic of the hydroxyl radical is studied in N 2 /O 2 /H 2 O mixtures with small amounts of acetone or isopropyl alcohol (0.5%). The radical density is measured in absolute value in the afterglow of a photo-triggered discharge, which generates an homogeneous transient non-equilibrium plasma, using a time resolved absorption measurement method. For dry mixtures, experimental results are compared to predictions of a self-consistent 0D discharge and kinetic model. It is shown that dissociation of the VOCs through quenching collisions of nitrogen metastable states plays an important role in the production of OH. Measurements can not be explained looking only at the oxidation of acetone or IPA by the oxygen atom. This result is reinforced by experimental results about the OH density in wet mixtures, with or without VOCs, compared to dry ones.
