TL;DR: Fiber lengths of each stage of the three stages L band erbium doped fiber amplifier (L-EDFA) and the pump laser power are optimized to achieve the maximum gain, the minimum noise figure and the minimum gain ripple.
Abstract: In this study, fiber lengths of each stage of the three stages L band erbium doped fiber amplifier (L-EDFA) and the pump laser power are optimized to achieve the maximum gain, the minimum noise figure and the minimum gain ripple. It is obtained on an average 34.7–37.1 dB gain, 6.28–6.0 dB noise figure, and 2.13–2.28 dB gain ripple along all L band for the 980–1480nm pump wavelengths, respectively.

TL;DR: It is shown, that the characteristics of the multipaths strongly depend on the distance between the receiver and transmitter, and strong multipaths are present in the air to ground radio channel.
Abstract: The paper presents results from flight trials conducted to investigate the characteristics of the L-band air to ground radio channel. Hereby, the transmitter is located on ground and the receiver in a flying aircraft. Within the paper the setup of the measurements, including hardware setup, channel sounding method, and flight patterns, is described. The presented results include power delay profiles and multipath heatmaps for two scenarios. The results indicate that strong multipaths are present in the air to ground radio channel. It is shown, that the characteristics of the multipaths strongly depend on the distance between the receiver and transmitter.

TL;DR: In this article, a full-duplex millimeterwave over fiber ring system consisting of two simple basestations is presented, where the basest stations are addressed using individual wavelengths.
Abstract: A full-duplex millimeterwave over fiber ring system consisting of two simple basestations is presented. The basestations are addressed using individual wavelengths. Bit error rates below 10-9 are achieved for 156 Mb/s down- and uplink data within the 60 GHz band simultaneously.

TL;DR: In this article, the dynamic gain properties of a serial structure of C+L wide-band EDFA were investigated, and it was found that changing of C band (L band) signal has almost no effect on the gain spectra of L band (C band), so that dynamical gain control can be realized by mature fast linear pump control via monitoring of C and L band input signal respectively.
Abstract: The dynamic gain properties of a serial structure of C+L wide-band EDFA are investigated. It is found out that changing of C band (L band) signal has almost no effect on the gain spectra of L band (C band), so that dynamical gain control can be realized by mature fast linear pump control via monitoring of C band and L band input signal respectively. The method was demonstrated experimentally for the first time.

TL;DR: In this paper, the microwave emissions at 1.413 GHz (L band) and 2.65 GHz (S band) from a silt loam soil exhibited an oscillatory behavior in time as the soil was being irrigated.
Abstract: Observations of the microwave emissions at 1.413 GHz (L band) and 2.65 GHz (S band) from a silt loam soil exhibited an oscillatory behavior in time as the soil was being irrigated. The oscillations are attributed to interference between reflections from the air-soil interface and the wet soil-dry soil interface as the latter moved down in the soil. The magnitude of the first oscillation at L band was 56 K, and at S band it was 40 K, with oscillation damping out after about three cycles to the brightness temperature expected for the wet soil. The emission was modeled using a coherent model, and the results show qualitative and quantitative agreement with the observations.
