TL;DR: In this article, the authors proposed a method to adapt a door motor operator utilizing a photoelectric eye generating a digital pulse train of known amplitude, periodicity and duty cycle to a control signal created through the opening or closure of a moving door edge sensing device or strip which closes or opens when compressed.
Abstract: Apparatus and method to adapt a automatic door motor operator utilizing a photoelectric eye generating a digital pulse train of known amplitude, periodicity and duty cycle to a control signal created through the opening or closure of a moving door edge sensing device or strip which closes or opens when compressed. The invention relates to safety edges used on motorized doors to provide a conversion means to allow a sensing edge switch on the leading edge of a moving door to control a door operator control unit which expects to receive a control signal of a predetermined amplitude, period and duty cycle normally generated through use of a photo eye used to monitor obstructions within the path of the moving door. The invention allows field replacement of an obstruction protecting photo-eye sensor with an safety edge switch type device utilizing the existing door operator and the in-place power source.

TL;DR: A rotor blade includes and airfoil, which includes pressure and suction side walls which extend radially outwardly from a platform in span from a root to a tip and between a leading edge and a trialing edge as mentioned in this paper.
Abstract: A rotor blade includes and airfoil. The airfoil includes pressure and suction side walls which extend radially outwardly from a platform in span from a root to a tip and between a leading edge and a trialing edge. The tip includes a tip floor, a plurality of coolant outlets and a tip rail having a pressure side and suction side portions that extend radially outwardly from the tip floor. Cooling passages are circumscribed within the airfoil and are in fluid communication with one or more of the coolant outlets. A baffle extends radially outwardly from and transversely across the tip floor from the pressure side portion to the suction side portion to define first and second tip pockets. A slot is disposed along the suction side portion of the tip rail to provide for fluid communication out of one of the first or second tip pockets, thereby reducing pressure within the corresponding tip pocket.

TL;DR: In this paper, a shroud segment is defined as a body including a leading edge, a trailing edge, an opposing side, a first side edge and a second side, and a pair of opposed lateral sides.
Abstract: A shroud segment that includes a body including a leading edge, a trailing edge, a first side edge, a second side, and a pair of opposed lateral sides. A first lateral side is configured to interface with a cavity having a cooling fluid, and a second lateral side is oriented toward a hot gas flow path. The shroud segment includes at least one channel disposed within the body, wherein the at least one channel includes a first portion extending from upstream of the trailing edge towards the trailing edge in a first direction from the leading edge to the trailing edge, a second portion extending from the trailing edge to upstream of the trailing edge in a second direction from the trailing edge to the leading edge, and a third portion extending from upstream of the trailing edge towards the trailing edge in the first direction.

TL;DR: In this paper, a gas turbine engine includes an airfoil body having a leading edge and a trailing edge extending in a radial direction, a set of blocking pedestals located within the leading edge cavity, at least one set of pedestals placed within the trailing edge cavity and a series of circular pedestals positioned at the leading and leading edges.
Abstract: An airfoil of a gas turbine engine includes an airfoil body having a leading edge and a trailing edge extending in a radial direction, a trailing edge cavity formed within the airfoil and proximate to the trailing edge of the airfoil, the trailing edge cavity extending from the trailing edge in a forward direction toward the leading edge, at least one set of blocking pedestals located within the trailing edge cavity, a set of circular pedestals located aftward from the at least one blocking set of pedestals, and a set of spear pedestals located aftward from the set of circular pedestals and closest to the trailing edge of the airfoil body.

TL;DR: In this article, a silicon sensing element on a ceramic substrate is placed just ahead of the leading edge of the silicon so that some of the airflow that is flowing toward the sensing face passes through the slot.
Abstract: The sensor comprises a silicon sensing element on a ceramic substrate. A slot is provided in the substrate just ahead of the leading edge of the silicon so that some of the airflow that is flowing toward the leading edge surface of the silicon passes through the slot. This promotes a less turbulent flow over the sensing face of the silicon.
