TL;DR: Within healthcare, clinical practice bundles have been used to implement standardized, nursing driven protocols resulting in standardized patient care and improved patient outcomes.
Abstract: Within healthcare, clinical practice bundles have been used to implement standardized, nursing driven protocols resulting in standardized patient care and improved patient outcomes. Examples of these types of bundles include clinical practices shown through evidence based medicine to reduce occurrences of Ventilator Associated Pneumonia – VAP bundle; those shown to reduce the occurrences of central line infections – CL bundle; and those shown to significantly improve the outcomes of patients presenting with sepsis – Sepsis Bundle.

TL;DR: The Lean Six Sigma curriculum as mentioned in this paper was developed and widely deployed as a three-day short course at MIT and has been offered to over 1600 participants in 60 short course and semester long subjects.
Abstract: This paper reports on a decade-long undertaking to develop and widely deploy an introductory Lean Six Sigma curriculum. The origins, objectives and history of the effort are summarized, as is the content of the core three-day short course. Versions of the curriculum have been offered to over 1600 participants in 60 short course and semester long subjects taught by 45 different instructors in the US and Latin America. Over 180,000 visits have been made to the curriculum posted on MIT’s Open Courseware. Findings on the learning outcomes are presented based upon the extensive database complied from student feedback and self-assessment.

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors provide several case studies of Lean Six Sigma (LSS) deployment in the retail industry and provide a succinct research agenda on how efficiency and effectiveness drivers of retail operations induced by LSS deployment may affect a retailer's overall business performance.
Abstract: In today’s competitive business environment, retail industries are under intense pressure to produce quality standards, enhance customer satisfaction, and generate positive bottom-line results. Hence, there is a great need for the deployment of Continuous Improvement (CI) methodologies such as Lean, Six Sigma, and Lean Six Sigma (LSS) in the retail environment. LSS deployment can give retailers the ability to create competitive advantages based on fulfilling customer needs with enhanced effectiveness and efficiency. The LSS Efficiency-Effectiveness (E-E) framework, developed in this study, sets a succinct research agenda on how efficiency and effectiveness drivers of retail operations induced by LSS deployment may affect a retailer's overall business performance. LSS transforms the retailers' overall business strategy from vision to reality by the execution of appropriate projects in retail operations. To highlight this transformation, the study provides several case studies of LSS deployment in the retail industry.
