TL;DR: In this article, an image processing device has: first acquisition means for acquiring light field data that is three-dimensional information of a subject space; second acquisition mean for acquiring plural refocus images corresponding to the light field images acquired by the first acquisition and obtained by reconfiguring the light-field data into an image at an arbitrary focus position; and control means for controlling display means to display the plurality refocus image corresponding to one light field datum.
Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve a retrieval property of still pictures or videos picked up by a light field camera.SOLUTION: The image processing device has: first acquisition means for acquiring light field data that is three-dimensional information of a subject space; second acquisition means for acquiring plural refocus images corresponding to the light field data acquired by the first acquisition means and obtained by reconfiguring the light field data into an image at an arbitrary focus position; and control means for controlling display means to display the plural refocus images corresponding to the next light field data after the plural refocus images corresponding to one light field datum are sequentially displayed when a command for displaying the plural images corresponding to the light field data is issued.

TL;DR: This work creates the first windowed 5 degree of freedom light field image database (Win5-LID) based on stereoscopic display, which provideswindowed 5 DOF experience and all the depth cues of light field images.
Abstract: Recently, light field image has attracted wide attention. However, much less work has been conducted on the perceptual evaluation of light field image. In this work, we create the first windowed 5 degree of freedom light field image database (Win5-LID) based on stereoscopic display, which provides windowed 5 DOF experience and all the depth cues of light field image. The database consists of light field images with representative compression and reconstruction artifacts. We assume that the light field quality is not only affected by sub-views quality but also depth cues. Picture quality and overall quality are then evaluated and the results validate our assumption. Finally, the performance of existing image quality metrics is analyzed on our database. The results indicate that the performance of the state-of-the-art image quality metrics remains to be improved.

TL;DR: In this article, a model of two photon absorption in a cavity with an external driving field is presented, where phase and amplitude fluctuations in the driving field are taken into account to model a partially coherent multimode source.
Abstract: A model of two photon absorption in a cavity with an external driving field is presented. Phase and amplitude fluctuations in the driving field are taken into account to model a partially coherent multimode source. The photon statistics of the light in the cavity are investigated through a calculation of the second-order correlation function of the light field in the steady state. For a coherent driving field the field inside the cavity will exhibit photon antibunching for low intensities. As the fluctuations in the driving field are increased the photon antibunching is lost. For a particular coherent field, g(2)(0) is reduced with increasing laser intensity. This reduction with laser intensity is slower with increasing laser amplitude fluctuations. This could provide a possible explanation for the recent experimental observations of Kransinski and Dinev (1976).

TL;DR: In this article, the authors perform basis-independent tomography of arbitrary pure vectorial light fields using spatially resolved Stokes projections, and demonstrate that concurrence, as a non-separability witness, can be extracted from global Stokes projection, without assessing the spatial degree of freedom.
Abstract: Complex vectorial light fields, non-separable in their polarization and spatial degree of freedom, are of relevance in a wide variety of research areas encompassing microscopy, metrology, communication and topological studies. Controversially, they have been suggested as analogues to quantum entanglement, raising fundamental questions on the relation between non-separability in classical systems, and entanglement in quantum systems. We perform basis-independent tomography of arbitrary pure vectorial light fields using spatially resolved Stokes projections. Moreover, we propose and demonstrate that concurrence, as a non-separability witness for any pure vectorial light field, can be extracted from global Stokes projections, without assessing the spatial degree of freedom.

TL;DR: A new approach to capturing refraction in transparent media, which is called Light Field Background Oriented Schlieren Photography (LFBOS), by optically coding the locations and directions of light rays emerging from a light field probe to avoid expensive computational processing of the captured data.
Abstract: We introduce a new approach to capturing refraction in transparent media, which we call Light Field Background Oriented Schlieren Photography (LFBOS) By optically coding the locations and directions of light rays emerging from a light field probe, we can capture changes of the refractive index field between the probe and a camera or an observer Rather than using complicated and expensive optical setups as in traditional Schlieren photography we employ commodity hardware; our prototype consists of a camera and a lenslet array By carefully encoding the color and intensity variations of a 4D probe instead of a diffuse 2D background, we avoid expensive computational processing of the captured data, which is necessary for Background Oriented Schlieren imaging (BOS) We analyze the benefits and limitations of our approach and discuss application scenarios
