21 Dec 1978TL;DR: In this article, a cylindrical housing is employed as a common plate to the several capacitors located within each housing, each employing an air/liquid dielectric, whereby the capacitance values of the capacitors are individually variable due to any variations in the liquid height at each location.
Abstract: A capacitive liquid level sensor for sensing the height of liquid in a liquid storage tank at a plurality of locations. The liquid level sensor includes a cylindrical housing which extends along a line perpendicular to a predetermined reference level which is approximately parallel to the expected level of liquid in the storage tank. Several capacitors are included within the housing, each employing an air/liquid dielectric, whereby the capacitance values of the capacitors are individually variable due to any variations in the liquid height at each location. Several alternative cross-sectional structures are shown whereby the cylindrical housings are employed as a common plate to the several capacitors located within each housing.

TL;DR: In this article, a dielectric micro condensation film, in an external horizontal configuration, is investigated experimentally and its effect on heat transfer is explored by varying the voltage and frequency of the electric traveling wave, as well as the condensation heal flux.
Abstract: Electrohydrodynamic (EHD) induction pumping is based on charges induced in a dielectric liquid and delayed at a gradient or discontinuity of the electric conductivity. A traveling electric wave (AC) attracts or repels these induced charges, leading to liquid motion. EHD induction pumping of a dielectric micro condensation film, in an external horizontal configuration, is investigated experimentally. The pumping and its effect on heat transfer are explored by varying the voltage and frequency of the electric traveling wave, as well as the condensation heal flux. This study provides a fundamental understanding of induction pumping of micro liquid film and illustrates its potential for managing the flow and enhancing the heat transfer in the presence of phase change

01 Sep 2016TL;DR: In this paper, the SiO 2 nanoparticles were attributed with good abrasion resistance, electrical insulation and high thermal stability: dispersed to the corn oil and coconut oil in various proportions.
Abstract: Transformer efficiency purely depends on integral functions of solid and liquid dielectric. A good dielectric should possess the following properties like; high breakdown strength, high thermal stability, chemical inertness, environmental friendly and good heat transfer capacity. Natural esters such as Corn Oil (CRO) and Coconut Oil (CO) are chosen based on the fatty acid compositions and considered to be the next generation heat transfer fluids. The SiO 2 nanoparticles was attributed with good abrasion resistance, electrical insulation and high thermal stability: dispersed to the CRO and CO in various proportions. The properties like breakdown voltage, dissipation factor, dielectric constant, volume resistivity, viscosity, flash point, fire point, acidity and iodine values were measured according to IEC and ASTM standards. Astonishingly at elevated temperature the altered natural esters shows excellent insulating properties.
