TL;DR: This article looks at a specific instance of traffic dispersion in communication networks, where the processes are communication processes, and the resource is the link capacity in a packet switched network.
Abstract: Aggregation of resources is a means to improve performance and efficiency in statistically shared systems in general, and communication networks in particular. One approach to this is traffic dispersion, which means that the traffic from a source is spread over multiple paths and transmitted in parallel through the network. Traffic dispersion may help in utilizing network resources to their full potential, while providing quality-of-service guarantees. It is a topic gaining interest, and much work has been done in the field. The results are, however, difficult to find, since the technique appears under many different labels. This article is therefore an attempt to gather and report on the work done on traffic dispersion in communication networks. It looks at a specific instance of this general method. The processes are communication processes, and the resource is the link capacity in a packet switched network.

TL;DR: This review will be beneficial to researches for the development of an alternative method for the treatment of innumerable diseases from diosgenin, a steroidal sapogenin found in plants such as Dioscorea nipponoca and Trigonella.
Abstract: Diosgenin is a steroidal sapogenin found in plants such as Dioscorea nipponoca, Solanum incanum, Solanum xanthocarpum and Trigonella foenum graecum. Diosgenin, biologically active phytochemicals have been used for the treatment of various types of disorder such as leukemia, inflammation, hypercholesterolemia and cancer. It is also able to prevent bone loss to the same extent as that of oestrogen. It is a typical initial intermediate for synthesis of steroidal compounds, oral contraceptives and sex hormones. Dioscorea, Costus and Trigonella are mainly used for the production of diosgenin. On the basis of literature survey it divulges that diosgenin has very impressive pharmacological profile and could be used as a medicine for the treatment of different types of disorders in the future. Thus, the present work aims to provide collective information in concern with its pharmacological activity and phytoanalytical techniques. This review will be beneficial to researches for the development of an alternative method for the treatment of innumerable diseases from diosgenin.

TL;DR: The authors identify Western language works published between 1800 and 1985 that deal specifically with traditional Chinese science and are written by those best described as representatives or members of academic, scholarly, professional, and similar communities from a West European country, America, Canada, Australia and New Zealand.
Abstract: This bibliographical study is designed to: (i) identify Western- language works published between 1800 and 1985 that deal specifically with traditional Chinese science and are written by those best described as representatives or members of academic, scholarly, professional, and similar communities from a West European country, America, Canada, Australia and New Zealand; (ii) provide a profile of these Western contributions through a systematic description of the works and the study trends that they demonstrate; (iii) review bibliographic access to and control of these publications; (iv) organise this body of material into a classified bibliography. There are two parts to this bibliographical study. PART I is the main text or literature survey. It consists of ten chapters: 1. Introduction; 2. Traditional Chinese Science - General Works; 3. Traditional Chinese Science - Fundamental Concepts; Philosophy; Social and Cultural Relations; 4. Mathematics; 5. Astronomy; 6. Earth Sciences; 7. Physics; 8. Alchemy; Early Chemistry; 9. Biology; 10. Conclusion. The eight subject chapters outline titles concerned in a roughly chronological order starting with the earliest works, and give an indication of the shapes and contours Western interests in the areas had assumed. Additionally, they review the level of activity of various countries and the professional training and specialisations of those responsible for the studies, address the forms which these publications have taken, and examine bibliographic provision and control. PART II is made up of two classified bibliographies. The first contains all the works covered by the main survey; the second is a supplementary bibliography of other titles relevant to the subject. The study is meant to be of interest to scholars, students and librarians with or without prior knowledge of traditional Chinese science. It is also hoped that the broad overview will persuade those in the field to pay closer attention to historiographical issues and bibliographic concerns.

TL;DR: In this article, Schmidt et al. presented an extended scaled equation to represent the surface tension of these substances: σ=kT c N A V c 2/3 (4.35+4.14ω)t 1.26 (1+0.19t 0.5 −0.25t) where t1−T/Tc is reduced temperature, k, NA, Vc, and ω are the Boltzmann constant, Avogadro number, the critical volume and the acentric factor.

TL;DR: In this article, the main conclusion is that the effects of FDI on economic growth depend on the domestic conditions of the host country (e.g., human capital, economic and technological conditions, degree of openness of its economy).
Abstract: Foreign direct investment (FDI) influences host country's economic growth through several channels. Empirically, a variety of studies considers that FDI generate economic growth but others conclude that FDI is a source of negative effects. By reviewing existing theoretical and empirical literature, we intend to shed light on the main explanations for the mixed results. The main conclusion is that the effects of FDI on economic growth depend on the domestic conditions of the host country (e.g., human capital, economic and technological conditions, degree of openness of its economy). Thus, the host countries governments have a key role in creating the conditions that allow for the leverage of the positive effects or for the reduction of the negative effects of FDI on the host country's economic growth.
