TL;DR: In this article, a dynamic point selection (DPS) mechanism is proposed to provide cell load balancing and interference mitigation in the network, where transmission point (TP) of user equipment (UE) will be switched dynamically among the cooperating set of TPs.
Abstract: Number of mobile devices are increasing and traffic demand of using mobile data services has been growing extremely with the trend of this generation. To improve system performance to support increasing demand in the future networks, 5G mobile communication systems based on LTE Advanced (LTE-A) technology were introduced. Users’ experienced throughput has been one of the important goals in 5G systems that can be achievable by improving the cell edge performance. Coordinated Multipoint (CoMP) was considered for managing inter-cell interference at cell-edge in particular a Dynamic Point Selection (DPS), a mechanism to provide cell load balancing and interference mitigation in the Network. In DPS, Transmission Point (TP) of User Equipment (UE) will be switched dynamically among the cooperating set of TPs. Several DPS mechanisms have been proposed to date, however the performance of DPS in hotspot scenarios has not been studied. In this paper, the LTE-A system performance based on the implementation of DPS with different CoMP clustering patterns under hotspot scenarios is evaluated. The system level simulation has been used with non-full buffered video streaming traffic model for realistic scenarios. The simulation results show the system performance in terms of the peak throughput, the average throughput and the cell-edge throughput of the system with the CoMP DPS implementation. Finally, the DPS performance gains obtained in such scenarios are presented.

TL;DR: A novel scheme with dynamical system resource allocating and scheduling is proposed, where the corresponding resources for each kind of service can be dynamically allocated according to the current traffic status.
Abstract: In LTE Advanced system, it is critical to carry on various types of services for different user applications. Obviously, the system resource requirements are quite different for each individual service. In order to allocate and schedule limited resources reasonably, the cooperative game model is established and studied in our paper; furthermore, a novel scheme with dynamical system resource allocating and scheduling is also proposed, where the corresponding resources for each kind of service can be dynamically allocated according to the current traffic status. Consequently, the priorities of users are determined based on the service attribute and channel status. Results show that the spectral efficiency is enhanced effectively by our proposed scheme; in the mean time, the performances of multimedia services are also improved.

TL;DR: In this article, the authors proposed a search method and system for an LTE network, which includes a terminal which exits from a LTE network receiving LTE network coverage information about an LA governed by a mobile switching centre (MSC) sent by the MSC after entering into a network in another format.
Abstract: Provided are a search method and system for an LTE network. The method includes: a terminal which exits an LTE network receiving LTE network coverage information about an LA governed by a mobile switching centre (MSC) sent by the MSC after entering into a network in another format, wherein the LTE network coverage information is used for indicating whether the governed LA supports LTE network coverage; and the terminal which exits the LTE network searches for an LTE network within an LA which supports LTE network coverage according to the LTE network coverage information. The present invention solves the problem in the prior art that a terminal continuously searches for an LTE network in a large range without knowing the LTE network coverage situation, thus improving the search success rate and reducing the electricity consumption of the terminal.

TL;DR: A framework for TDD frame adaptation within the LTE-A system is proposed to provide the options of choosing differentTDD frame formats by calculating the DL:UL subframes ratio under certain channel conditions and QoS requirements.
Abstract: In this paper, we study the aggregation between the FDD and TDD spectrum bands within the context of 3GPP LTE-A system. To be specific, we first provide a cross-layer design analysis to obtain the achievable throughput using the TDD mode for transmission in LTE-A system. Under particular QoS requirements and certain channel conditions, the achievable throughput is derived and evaluated. The QoS requirements originate from the upper layers, where the file size, the TCP window size and the latency for efficient transmission are incorporated in the final formulation. Having obtained the formulation, simulation results highlight the impact of the QoS parameters to different TDD frame formats. We therefore propose a framework for TDD frame adaptation within the LTE-A system. The aim of this framework is to provide the options of choosing different TDD frame formats by calculating the DL:UL subframes ratio under certain channel conditions and QoS requirements. Simulation results are carried out, which reveal the probability of choosing the different TDD frame formats from the system under certain channel conditions and QoS requirements.
