TL;DR: In this paper, the test results of an experimental prototype for a new electric motor magnetic circuit structure using shifted non-segmented grain oriented steel laminations are presented, along with the experimental procedure and results which point out the different advantages of this particular shifted structure.
Abstract: This paper deals with the test results of an experimental prototype for a new electric motor magnetic circuit structure. Such configuration uses shifted non-segmented grain oriented steel laminations. The paper presents the magnetic circuit design, the experimental procedure and the results which point out the different advantages of this particular shifted structure.

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors proposed an eight-channel interleaved DC/DC converter for interfacing super-capacitor energy storage system to a 400 V DC voltage bus.
Abstract: Interleaved converters with coupled inductors are widely used to share load current in high power applications. It offers high equivalent switching frequency and reduced output current ripples using small size magnetic components. Owing to smaller common-mode inductance, control system can be designed to achieve fast dynamic response. This study proposes eight-channel interleaved DC/DC converter for interfacing super-capacitor energy storage system to a 400 V DC voltage bus. Multi-stage interleaving magnetic circuit with two-phase coupling inductor as a building block is proposed. A methodology is developed to construct the model of the multi-stage magnetic circuit from the basic two-phase coupled inductor model. The derived model is successfully used to evaluate the system power losses and to design the magnetic circuit parameters and its current controller to fulfil the DC/DC converter steady state and dynamic performance specifications. A 20 kW/four stage/8-channel DC/DC converter laboratory prototype has been built to connect a super-capacitor stack to 400 V DC voltage bus. Experimental investigation validates the modelling, the system losses calculations and the design specifications of the system.

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors derived single-phase and three-limb three-phase transformer models using a unified magnetic equivalent circuit concept and verified the new models with laboratory and field data, making a comparison between the transient performance of HVDC converters with conventional and proposed transformer models.
Abstract: In electromagnetic transient simulation HVDC converter transformers are normally represented as magnetically independent single-phase units. However, three-limb converter transformers are often used in HVDC schemes. Single-phase and three-limb three-phase transformer models are derived using a unified magnetic equivalent circuit concept. The new models are verified with laboratory and field data. Also, a comparison is made between the transient performance of HVDC converters with conventional and proposed transformer models.

TL;DR: In this paper, a linear electrodynamic machine with non-axisymmetric, interdigitating interfaces between moving and fixed magnetic circuit elements is described, where the moving magnet elements may be permanent magnet or electromagnetic construction and in one embodiment constitute low reluctance elements moving relative to fixed energizing and output coils.
Abstract: A linear electrodynamic machine is disclosed having non-axisymmetric, interdigitating interfaces between moving and fixed magnetic circuit elements. The moving magnet elements may be of permanent magnet or electromagnetic construction, and in one embodiment constitute low reluctance elements moving relative to fixed energizing and output coils. Magnetic elements on a reciprocating plunger couple to fixed elements of a magnetic circuit in an interdigitating manner. Alternators and motors with non-axisymmetric, interdigitating interfaces are disclosed.

TL;DR: Analyzing snapshots of trajectories of hundred magnetite particles of each size in the water as well as in the air, it is found that optimally designed magnetic circuits of permanent magnets in quadrupolar Halbach array have substantially shorter capture time than simple blocks of permanent magnet commonly used in experiments.
Abstract: Magnetic nanoparticles for therapy and diagnosis are at the leading edge of the rapidly developing field of bionanotechnology In this study, we have theoretically studied motion of magnetic nano- as well as micro-particles in the field of cylindrical Halbach array of permanent magnets Magnetic flux density was modeled as magnetostatic problem by finite element method and particle motion was described using system of ordinary differential equations—Newton law Computations were done for nanoparticles Nanomag®-D with radius 65 nm, which are often used in magnetic drug targeting, as well as microparticles DynaBeads-M280 with radius 14 µm, which can be used for magnetic separation Analyzing snapshots of trajectories of hundred magnetite particles of each size in the water as well as in the air, we have found that optimally designed magnetic circuits of permanent magnets in quadrupolar Halbach array have substantially shorter capture time than simple blocks of permanent magnets commonly used in experiments, therefore, such a Halbach array may be useful as a potential source of magnetic field for magnetic separation and targeting of magnetic nanoparticles as well as microparticles for delivery of drugs, genes, and cells in various biomedical applications
