TL;DR: The mechanism of electre% formation was envisaged by GRoss as mentioned in this paper to be due to the joint contribution of the dipole orientation, ion migration in the interior of the dielectric and electronic conduction between dielectrics-electrode interface.
Abstract: The mechanism of electre% formation was envisaged by GRoss [t] to be due %o the joint contribution of the dipole orientation, ion migration in the interior of the dielectric and electronic conduction between dielectric-electrode interface. The possibility of a magnetic field causing dipolar orientation has been shown by CHATTERJEE [2~ and McM~,HON [3]. The formation and charge decay characteristics of a carnauba wax magneto-electret has been investigated by BHATI~AaAR [4]. CXATTERJEE and SUTRADI~AR [5] reported large change of magnetic susceptibility of a carnauba wax elee%ret. Similar results have also been reported by POLOVlKOV and VOLCHAI~SKAVA [6] who made a detailed study of the magnetic susceptibilities of thermo-electrets of five different dielectrics. The present note reports the time variation of magnetic susceptibility of a piece of magneto-electret of carnauba wax extending over a period of 8 months.
