16 Nov 1993TL;DR: An integrated Marx generator circuit is constructed in one assembly from a housing with two oil-filled cavities as mentioned in this paper, where first and second capacitors each include two sets of spaced apart capacitor plates.
Abstract: An integrated Marx generator circuit is constructed in one assembly from a housing with two oil-filled cavities. First and second capacitors each include two sets of spaced apart capacitor plates. The first and second capacitors are formed in the separate cavities. The space between the capacitor plates are filled with oil and insulating material. A set of four spark gap switches control the charging and discharging of the generator circuit.

13 Jun 2005TL;DR: In this paper, the authors presented an experimental investigation of a reflex triode, powered by a 400 kV Marx generator, and also gave a comparison between theoretically and experimentally obtained scaling laws.
Abstract: The reflex triode is a device used for the generation of high-power microwave (HPM) radiation. This study presents an experimental investigation of a reflex triode, powered by a 400 kV Marx generator, and also gives a comparison between theoretically and experimentally obtained scaling laws. The experimentally determined dominating frequency from the reflex triode with different anode-cathode gaps agree qualitatively well with the theoretical expression, but in general the experimental frequency is lower.

TL;DR: A compact and portable flash X-ray (FXR) system based on a Marx generator has been developed with the high voltage fed to the FXR tube via a cable feed-through arrangement.
Abstract: Flash X-ray sources driven by pulsed power find applications in industrial radiography, and a portable X-ray source is ideal where the radiography needs to be taken at the test site. A compact and portable flash X-ray (FXR) system based on a Marx generator has been developed with the high voltage fed to the FXR tube via a cable feed-through arrangement. Hard bremsstrahlung X-rays of few tens of nanosecond duration are generated by impinging intense electron beams on an anode target of high Z material. An industrial X-ray source is developed with source size as low as 1 mm. The system can be operated from 150 kV to 450 kV peak voltages and a dose of 10 mR has been measured at 1 m distance from the source window. The modeling of the FXR source has been carried out using particle-in-cell and Monte Carlo simulations for the electron beam dynamics and X-ray generation, respectively. The angular dose profile of X-ray has been measured and compared with the simulation.

TL;DR: In this paper, a theoretical model for the analysis of effective discharge parameters in a high-power transversely excited atmospheric pressure CO2 laser with an electron beam preionization system is presented.
Abstract: In this paper, a theoretical model for the analysis of effective-discharge parameters in a high-power transversely excited atmospheric pressure CO2 laser with an electron beam preionization system is presented. The laser-discharge active volume and electron gun are modeled by nonlinear time-varying impedance. The lumped linear RLC circuits approximate the Marx generator and sustainer bank systems. By this method, the governing equations are reduced to a system of nonlinear time-varying ordinary differential equations that are solved numerically. Based on these equations, the electron beam and the main discharge parameters are evaluated. Our theoretical results are in good agreement with the experimental results.
