TL;DR: In this article, the authors proposed a new concept of the inductive line for energy storage (ILES), in which part of these inductances are replaced by suitable transmission line elements, which offers a significant improvement in the maximum current and hence energy delivery to an inductive load.
Abstract: The inductive energy storage (IES) generator has long been considered to be the most efficient system for energy usage in large pulsed power systems in the MA level. A number of parameters govern the efficiency of energy transfer between the storage capacitors and the load, and the level of current deliverable to the load. For a high power system, the energy storage capacitors are arranged as a Marx generator. The primary constraints are the inductances in the various parts of the circuit, in particular, the upstream inductance between the Marx and the plasma opening switch (POS), and the downstream inductance between the POS and the load. In this paper, we propose a new concept of the inductive line for energy storage (ILES), in which part of these inductances are replaced by suitable transmission line elements. Extensive parametric scans have been carried out on circuit simulations to investigate the effect of both the upstream and downstream transmission lines. Comparison with an existing IES generator shows that the ILES design offers a significant improvement in the maximum current and hence energy delivery to an inductive load.

TL;DR: In this paper, a single external driven MOSFET series high voltage module consisting of transistors M1-Mn, gate-source parallel voltage equalizing resistors R -R, an energy storage capacitor C1, gate trigger capacitors C2-Cn, drain-source Parallel Voltage Equalizing Resistors R-R, an external driving circuit and a load is presented.
Abstract: The invention discloses a single external driven MOSFET series high voltage module comprising MOSFET transistors M1-Mn) which are connected in series in turn, gate-source parallel voltage equalizing resistors R -R , an energy storage capacitor C1, gate trigger capacitors C2-Cn, drain-source parallel voltage equalizing resistors R -R , an external driving circuit and a load. The invention also discloses a marx generator based on the single external driven MOSFET series high voltage module. The complicated driving isolation problem in the series connection of the conventional semiconductor device can be greatly solved and the miniaturization of the module can be realized; besides, the gate trigger capacitors are connected in a staggered way so as to greatly improve the disorder of device conduction when more devices are connected in series.

TL;DR: In this article, the Marx generator is used to produce high-voltage pulses with rise times of a few tens of nanoseconds, which can be used for remote applications.
Abstract: The Marx generator is commonly used when it is required to produce high-voltage pulses on a high impedance load. There are however applications in which this will be either too costly or not useful for remote applications and the present paper describes two novel techniques to overcoming these difficulties. Theoretical and experimental results show that high-voltage pulses with rise times of a few tens of nanoseconds can be generated using these techniques.

TL;DR: In this paper, a universal long-life Marx generator can be operated by alternatively using a non-dangerous insulating oil, and by optimizing selection of gas and pressure controls in an oil tank.
Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a high voltage equipment such as a Marx generator etc. by solving problems that various restrictions in using places are imposed when electrical insulating oil dangerous on the Fire Defense Low and a respiratory apparatus are used, and that the equipment is not so universal nor simple because lifetime of the insulating oil (therefore time interval for every overhaul of the equipment) becomes shorter as average temperature to be used under operation becomes higher. SOLUTION: The universal long-life Marx generator can be operated by alternatively using a non-dangerous insulating oil, and by optimizing selection of gas and pressure controls in an oil tank. Application of the same technology can be expected to similar high voltage equipment not only for the Marx generator. COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT

TL;DR: In this article, the principle and parameters of a low impedance pulsed electron accelerator MC55 are described and the experimental waveforms of the electron beam produced by MC55 were also presented.
Abstract: The principle and parameters of a low impedance pulsed electron accelerator MC55 are described. The experimental waveforms of the electron beam produced by MC55 are also presented. MC55 consists a 24-stages Marx generator, a 10 Ω water coaxial pulse forming line and outputting line, a main gas switch and a vacuum diode. An intense pulsed electron beam with diode voltage of 500 kV, current of 50 kA, and pulsewidth of 50 ns can be produced by this accelerator. The experimental research of coaxial virtual cathode oscillator driven by MC55 is carried out.
