TL;DR: The compact design of pulse generators in respect to the avalanche breakdown phenomenon in Bipolar Junction Transistors (BJT) while also addressing the effects of different variables in the circuit design of these generators in the environment of the PSpice simulation software is addressed.
Abstract: Use of Pulse Power Generators with high voltage magnitudes and low-rise times is prominent in industries such as medicine and laser where high technological requirements are needed. The compact design of these generators and the ability for an adjustable rise time of their output is important due to the necessities of these equipment. Accordingly, this paper addresses the compact design of pulse generators in respect to the avalanche breakdown phenomenon in Bipolar Junction Transistors (BJT) while also addressing the effects of different variables in the circuit design of these generators in the environment of the PSpice simulation software. For this purpose, a model circuit was designed and built while a comparison between the outputs from the built model and the outputs of the simulation study was performed in order to ascertain the results.

TL;DR: In this paper, experiments for the evaluation of a cold cathode electron gun were described, and small signal gains of 6.3 percent/cm were measured, which were obtained with less energy deposition in the laser gas with the larger pre-ionizing currents from cold cathodes.
Abstract: Experiments for the evaluation of a cold cathode electron gun are described. Different anode and cathode materials and configurations were tried. Small signal gains of 6.3 percent/cm were measured. It was found that the same small signal gains could be obtained with less energy deposition in the laser gas with the larger pre-ionizing currents from a cold cathode. Long-duration pulses were observed that were limited only by the electrical energy available in the Marx bank. (auth)

Abstract: The invention discloses an automobile forced-stopping device, comprising a wide spectrum electromagnetic pulse source. The wide spectrum electromagnetic pulse source mainly consists of a power supply, a control system, a repetition frequency high voltage generator, a wide spectrum pulse generator and a wide spectrum antenna, and is characterized in that the power supply and the control system are connected with the repetition frequency high voltage generator, the repetition frequency high voltage generator transforms energy provided by the power supply into high voltage which is fed into the wide spectrum pulse generator, and the wide spectrum pulse generator transforms high voltage pulse signals into wide spectrum high power pulse which radiates to the space via the wide spectrum antenna. The invention utilizes critical technologies of wide spectrum pulse generation, high power wide spectrum antennas, rapid rise time repetition frequency Marx generator etc. to realize the forced-stopping of vehicles by electromagnetic pulse.

TL;DR: In this article, an overvoltage value at the time of breakdown is determined and used for regulating the pressure in the spark gap tower and/or the distance of the caps.
Abstract: The invention relates to the continuous triggered operation of a Marx generator, particularly several Marx generators in the optimal operating point over a longer period of time for the purpose of pressure regulation and erosion detection in the spark gaps. An overvoltage that increases with time is superposed on at least one spark gap of a Marx generator, said overvoltage leading to the breakdown of the spark gap. The overvoltage value at the time of breakdown is determined and used for regulating the pressure in the spark gap tower and/or the distance of the caps. The distance is determined from the relation between the breakdown voltage, the pressure in the tower and the distance between the gaps of the triggered spark gap, the breakdown voltage and pressure being known, and used for erosion detection. In the case of adjustable caps, erosion detection is achieved on the basis of a measurement of the displacement path in addition to the voltage and pressure measurement. The ignition delay of each Marx generator is measured for the purpose of a temporally defined triggering of at least two Marx generators. The signals are triggered in a temporally graduated manner in such a way that the initial voltages or initial currents of all Marx generators increase within a structurally conditioned scattering range at the respective desired moments.
