Testing device for residual voltage and electrical current distribution characteristic of whole lightning protector

Abstract: The utility model relates to a testing device for residual voltage and electrical current distribution characteristic of a whole lightning protector, and the testing device is characterized in that the testing device comprises an impact generator body which is provided with a control terminal and two testing interfaces, wherein the control terminal is connected with a measurement and control system; one of the two testing interfaces is connected in series with a harmonic resistor, a harmonic inductor and a voltage divider sequentially; the earthing terminal of the voltage divider is sleeved with a current measuring coil, and is further connected with the other testing interface of the impact generator body; the output terminals of the voltage divider and the electrical current measuring coil are both connected in series with the input terminal of an oscilloscope; the output terminal of the oscilloscope is connected with the measurement and control system through a network; and a sample to be tested is connected in parallel with the voltage divider. Due to the adoption of a 2400kv/360kJ, 12-grade Marx generator and an RLC electric discharge loop as the impact generator body, the utility model achieves the function of integrating residual voltage and electrical current distribution characteristic tests of the whole lightning protector. The testing device can be extensively applied to various lightning protector tests in electric power systems.

Marx generator using pseudospark switches

Abstract: The design and preliminary operation of the major subsystems of a Marx style pulse generator using advanced pseudospark devices are presented. The bank consists of three 150 nF / 40 kV capacitors connected with three floating FS2000 type pseudospark switches. These switches can hold off 35 kV and pass up to 10 kA at repetition rates approaching 1 kHz. The expected lifetime of >200 kC and the relatively low housekeeping power of <50 W make the pseudospark switch an excellent candidate in compact Marx generator applications. Preliminary operation of the floating housekeeping units essential to the Marx generator is presented in detail.

Features of 200 kV, 300 ns reflex triode vircator operation for different explosive emission cathodes

Abstract: To study the effect of explosive field emission cathodes on high power microwave generation, experiments were conducted on a reflex triode virtual cathode oscillator. Experimental results with cathodes made of graphite, stainless steel nails, and carbon fiber (needle type) are presented. The experiments have been performed at the 1 kJ Marx generator (200 kV, 300 ns, and 9 kA). The experimentally obtained electron beam diode perveance has been compared with the one-dimensional Child-Langmuir law. The cathode plasma expansion velocity has been calculated from the perveance data. It was found that the carbon fiber cathode has the lowest cathode plasma expansion velocity of 1.7 cm/μs. The radiated high power microwave has maximum field strength and pulse duration for the graphite cathode. Development of high energy induction accelerator, "ETIGO-III"

Abstract: A new induction accelerator "ETIGO-III" has been developed to generate high current relativistic electron beam for applications in materials science, high-power microwave generation and intense X-ray generation. Using the Marx generator of "ETIGO-I", we have produced the initial pulse of 670 kV (60 ns pulse width). Through the four transmission lines, the pulse was fed to four induction cells. Three cores are installed inside each cell. The output voltage of 2 MV was obtained by the initial cell. Specifically, it is possible to obtain the final output parameters of 8 MeV, 5 kA 60 ns. Various diagnostics have been carried out on the characteristics of the electron beam generated by "ETIGO-III".
