TL;DR: In this paper, the authors make an approach in extending the Open Archive Initiative for Metadata Havesting Protocol (OAI-PMH) into the Peer-to-Peer network, with the goal of integrating and interoperating among heterogeneous but relevant metadata schemas.
Abstract: Metadata Integration over distributed digital libraries is regarded one of the difficulties to realize, since it is not clear how to describe arbitrary functionality such that other components can inspect the description and ’decide’ automatically that this functionality is appropriate for a given task. This paper makes an approach in extending the Open Archive Initiative for Metadata Havesting Protocol (OAI-PMH) into the Peer-to-Peer network, with the goal of integrating and interoperating between or among heterogeneous but relevant metadata schemas.

TL;DR: A metadata-based archive for scientific data that provides flexible archive storage for very large data sets and uses metadata to organize and manage the data without imposing predefined metadata formats on scientists is described.
Abstract: Computational and laboratory experiments generate masses of data that must be stored reliably, with minimal effort on each researcher's part, and must be retrievable for decades. The storage environment must also work seamlessly across scientific disciplines and capture all of a file system's features in a semantically-based catalog that provides Boolean, keyword, and tree-based data access. The authors describe a metadata-based archive for scientific data that provides flexible archive storage for very large data sets. The system uses metadata to organize and manage the data without imposing predefined metadata formats on scientists.

TL;DR: In this article, the authors proposed a program that can summarize all existing markers, header structure, Huffman table and quantization table in JPEG to help viewing the hidden information within JPEG more easily.
Abstract: There are a lot of information embedded in JPEG image than just graphics. Visualization of its metadata would benefit digital forensic investigator to view embedded data including corrupted image where no graphics can be displayed in order to assist in evidence collection for cases such as child pornography or steganography. There are already available tools such as metadata readers, editors and extraction tools but mostly focusing on visualizing attribute information of JPEG Exif. However, none have been done to visualize metadata by consolidating markers summary, header structure, Huffman table and quantization table in a single program. In this paper, metadata visualization is done by developing a program that able to summarize all existing markers, header structure, Huffman table and quantization table in JPEG. The result shows that visualization of metadata helps viewing the hidden information within JPEG more easily.

TL;DR: In this article, the authors present a system for mass ingestion of metadata related to consumables related to online server supported applications, where the online server publishes a specification defining metadata fields, allowed format values, and other parameters.
Abstract: The present technology supports mass ingestion of metadata related to consumables related to online server supported applications. The online server publishes a specification defining metadata fields, allowed format values, and other parameters to facilitate the mass submission of metadata related to consumables. Metadata arranged according to the specification can be fed to the online server via a data stream or through submission of a document including metadata defining a plurality of consumables. The specification has been intelligently designed to account for the many different uses of consumables in applications supported by the server. As will be further described herein, the specification accounts for unique events pertaining to subscription content, in-application purchases, game performance and game award consumables, among others. Every type of consumable being submittable in the same document.

TL;DR: A content-oriented federated object store facilitates processing queries on metadata from a collection of content objects as discussed by the authors, where the first entity can include a local application, or a peer network device.
Abstract: A content-oriented federated object store facilitates processing queries on metadata from a collection of content objects. During operation, the system can receive, from a first entity, a query that includes one or more search parameters. The first entity can include a local application, or a peer network device. The system can analyze a local metadata repository to search for metadata entries that satisfy the query, such that the metadata repository can include metadata entries for a plurality of content objects. The system can also issue the query to a remote network device, to obtain search results from a metadata repository at the remote network device, or at a device accessible from the remote network device. If the system obtains a set of search results from the local metadata repository or from a remote metadata repository, the system returns the set of search results to the first entity.
