TL;DR: In this paper, the authors present a scalable architecture for generating jobs by applying user-specified metadata rules to metadata events in a cloud-based environment, where metadata service can include customizable and/or pre-build metadata templates which can be used to automatically apply a metadata framework (e.g., particular fields) to files based on the upload or placement of a particular file in a particular folder.
Abstract: Scalable architectures, systems, and services are provided herein for generating jobs by applying user-specified metadata rules to metadata events. More specifically, the scalable architecture described herein uses metadata to drive automations and/or polices in a cloud-based environment. In one embodiment, the architecture integrates a metadata service with an event-based automation engine to automatically trigger polices and/or automations based on metadata and/or changes in metadata changes. The metadata service can include customizable and/or pre-build metadata templates which can be used to automatically apply a metadata framework (e.g., particular fields) to files based on, for example, the upload or placement of a particular file in a particular folder. The architecture also provides for advanced metadata searching and data classification.

TL;DR: The authors apply the literature of data resource management to library metadata management and propose a model for managing MARC metadata repurposing processes through the implementation of a metadata management design.
Abstract: Metadata and information technology staff in libraries that are building digital collections typically extract and manipulate MARC metadata sets to provide access to digital content via non‐MARC schemes. Metadata processing in these libraries involves defining the relationships between metadata schemes, moving metadata between schemes, and coordinating the intellectual activity and physical resources required to create and manipulate metadata. Actively managing the non‐MARC metadata resources used to build digital collections is something most of these libraries have only begun to do. This article proposes strategies for managing MARC metadata repurposing efforts as the first step in a coordinated approach to library metadata management. Guided by lessons learned from Cornell University library mapping and transformation activities, the authors apply the literature of data resource management to library metadata management and propose a model for managing MARC metadata repurposing processes through the implementation of a metadata management design.

TL;DR: In this article, a metadata structure is used that includes metadata tags and objects to allow access to various data typically not available to most playback devices, and methods are provided that enhance the playback features of multimedia files.

23 Oct 2009TL;DR: In this paper, the Web Service Description Language (WSDL) files for the web services that interact with the adapters can be introspected to harvest adapter integration and transformation information into a service metadata repository.
Abstract: Business Process Execution Language (BPEL) engines and Enterprise Service Buses (ESBs) often connect to adapters to integrate backend packaged applications with a process flow by invoking web services using Java Connector Architecture (JCA) and Simple Object Access Protocol (SOAP) bindings. The Web Service Description Language (WSDL) files for the web services that interact with the adapters can be introspected to harvest adapter integration and transformation information into a service metadata repository. This permits dependency and impact analysis to extend from services to adapters and transformations.
