12 Jan 2009TL;DR: In this article, a system and method for automating asset workflows in a service metadata repository is described, where one or more workflows automate asset registration based on rules configured in an XML file.
Abstract: Described herein is a system and method for automating asset workflows in a service metadata repository. A service metadata repository includes an event model for generating one or more events based on a change to one or more assets. A persistent message stores the one or more events. A subscription service provides the ability to subscribe to one or more events and register one or more subscribed web service endpoints where the one or more events will be delivered. A delivery service matches the one or more events to the one or more web service endpoint and delivers the one or more events to a notification service. A notification service notifies the one or more subscribed web service endpoints of the one or more events. One or more workflows automate asset registration based on rules configured in an XML file, wherein the one or more workflows are initiated upon receiving the one or more events at a subscribed web service endpoint.

19 Dec 2008TL;DR: In this paper, a computing system creates and stores semantic metadata on content, such as videos, that enables efficient searching of the content, and the existing metadata of a video file, for example, is examined and a keyword list is created.
Abstract: A computing system creates and stores semantic metadata on content, such as videos, that enables efficient searching of the content. The existing metadata of a video file, for example, is examined and a keyword list is created. The processes used to derive the keyword list may depend on the type and format of the existing metadata. The keywords from the list are compared against external structured knowledge data sources that are topic oriented. Based on these comparisons and the matches found, semantic data, including topic, topic type, and attribute data are inserted into a topic table. This uniform and structured table is stored on the computing system and is efficiently searchable for finding relevant videos and for finding relationships between videos.

14 Mar 2013TL;DR: In this paper, a face recognition algorithm is trained based upon the retrieved images and metadata, and the trained face recognition is executed over the personal image collection of the user, where the user is external to the social network application.
Abstract: Various technologies pertaining to assigning metadata to images in a personal image collection of a user based upon images and associated metadata assigned thereto that are accessible to the user by way of a social network application are described. An account of the user in a social network application is accessed to retrieve images and metadata that is accessible to the user. A face recognition algorithm is trained based upon the retrieved images and metadata, and the trained face recognition algorithm is executed over the personal image collection of the user, where the personal image collection of the user is external to the social network application.

TL;DR: This paper proposes a formal model capturing RDF schema constructs, a declarative query language featuring generalized path expressions for taxonomies of labels, and a metadata management architecture for efficient storage and querying of RDF descriptions and schemas.
Abstract: The need for descriptive information, i.e., metadata, about Web resources has been recognized in several application contexts (e.g., digital libraries, portals). The Resource Description Framework (RDF) aims at facilitating the creation and exchange of metadata, as directed labeled graphs serialized in XML. In particular, the definition of schema vocabularies enables the interpretation of semistructured RDF descriptions using taxonomies of node and edge labels. In this paper, we propose (i) a formal model capturing RDF schema constructs; (ii) a declarative query language featuring generalized path expressions for taxonomies of labels (iii) a metadata management architecture for efficient storage and querying of RDF descriptions and schemas.

23 Dec 2011TL;DR: In this paper, a data set manager comprises a metadata capture module configured to access or otherwise obtain metadata characterizing data sets associated with the data processing elements, a reasoning module configuring to perform one or more reasoning operations on the metadata, and an action recommendation module configurable to identify one of the recommended actions based at least in part on results of the reasoning operations.
Abstract: A data set manager is configured to interact with data processing elements of an information processing system. The data set manager comprises a metadata capture module configured to access or otherwise obtain metadata characterizing data sets associated with the data processing elements, a reasoning module configured to perform one or more reasoning operations on the metadata, and an action recommendation module configured to identify one or more recommended actions for the data processing elements based at least in part on results of the reasoning operations. The metadata characterizes properties of the data sets and relationships among the data sets, and may be defined in accordance with at least one of a specified ontology and a specified class. The data set manager and associated data processing elements may be implemented, by way of example, in cloud infrastructure of a cloud service provider, or on another type of processing platform.
