TL;DR: In this paper, the authors describe an application specific runtime environment defined by an application environment specification to include a minimal or reduced set of software resources required for execution of the application, which are optionally stored in a resource repository that includes resources associated with a plurality of operating systems and executable applications.
Abstract: Systems and methods of executing and/or provisioning an application in an application specific runtime environment are disclosed. The application specific runtime environment is defined by an application environment specification to include a minimal or reduced set of software resources required for execution of the application. These software resources are optionally stored in a resource repository that includes resources associated with a plurality of operating systems and/or executable applications. Various embodiments of the invention include the development of hierarchical resource metadata configured to characterize the various files, packages and file families included in the resource repository. In some embodiments this metadata is used to select between files and different versions of files when provisioning an application specific runtime environment.

TL;DR: In this paper, a method for providing information with digital images includes receiving a digital image of a subject, the digital image including as metadata a geographic position of the subject and other information associated with generating a path to the subject.
Abstract: A method for providing information with digital images includes receiving a digital image of a subject, the digital image including as metadata a geographic position of the subject and other information associated with generating a path to the subject. A path to the subject from the source location can then be generated based on a geographic position of the source location and the metadata included with the digital image. The metadata can be stored on a mobile device and an alert provided when the mobile device is near the geographic position of the subject or if a trajectory of the mobile device does not match the generated path. Relationships with other digital images having associated metadata may also be included. Thus, users have the ability to use their image capture devices to intelligently share digital images of subjects and knowledge of the subjects, delivering greater value from these devices.

TL;DR: In this article, the authors describe a method for use in electronic content distribution, which includes storing sets of metadata corresponding to different electronic content titles available for distribution in accordance with different, respective, non-affiliated electronic book digital rights management schemes.
Abstract: In general, in one aspect, the disclosure describes a method for use in electronic content distribution. The method includes storing sets of metadata corresponding to different electronic content titles available for distribution in accordance with different, respective, non-affiliated electronic book digital rights management schemes. At least some of the sets of metadata indicate at least one authorized retailer. The method also includes determining one or more sets of metadata for a retailer, the determined sets corresponding to electronic content the retailer is authorized to retail, and generating an output file of content available to the retailer that includes at least a portion of the determined sets of metadata.

TL;DR: In this article, a push proxy and push client for use in a generic dynamic content delivery system is described, with the push proxy having a content provider registration service provider interface, said service provider interfaces adapted to register said push proxy with content providers and to further receive channel metadata for the content providers.
Abstract: A push proxy and push client for use in a generic dynamic content delivery system the push proxy having: a content provider registration service provider interface, said service provider interface adapted to register said push proxy with content providers and to further receive channel metadata for the content providers; a channel metadata repository adapted to store said channel metadata received from the content providers; a content metadata extractor and cache module adapted to extract metadata for said push proxy from a content and metadata envelope received from the content providers, said content metadata extracting cache further adapted to cache said metadata on said push proxy; a content fragmentation module adapted to break a content and metadata envelope into segments; a deferred retrieval message store module adapted to store a content envelope or one or more segments from said content fragmentation module; a content expiry and replacement module adapted to expire content stored in the deferred retrieval message store or to replace content stored in the deferred retrieval message store; a content dependencies module adapted to provide selection of push clients to advertise a service to; a push scheduler, said push scheduler adapted to schedule the pushing of a content envelope stored in the deferred retrieval message store; and a subscription and rules module adapted to maintain a subscription between an application and the content provider and maintain a list of rules for the subscription.

TL;DR: This paper presents Personal Data Lake, a unified storage facility for storing, analyzing and querying personal data, and allows third-party plugins so that the unstructured data can be analyzed and queried.
Abstract: This paper presents Personal Data Lake, a unified storage facility for storing, analyzing and querying personal data. A data lake stores data regardless of format and thus provides an intuitive way to store personal data fragments of any type. Metadata management is a central part of the lake architecture. For structured/semi-structured data fragments, metadata may contain information about the schema of the data so that the data can be transformed into queryable data objects when required. For unstructured data, enabling gravity pull means allowing third-party plugins so that the unstructured data can be analyzed and queried.
