TL;DR: An automated method of attaching metadata to a segment of content using a programmed processor consistent with certain embodiments involves retrieving metadata relating to the segment and rendering the metadata as visually perceptible text in one or more frames of video.
Abstract: An automated method of attaching metadata to a segment of content using a programmed processor consistent with certain embodiments involves retrieving metadata relating to the segment of content; rendering the metadata as visually perceptible text in one or more frames of video; appending the one or more frames of video to the video as the first one or more frames of the video to produce metadata enhanced video; and storing or transmitting the metadata enhanced video. This abstract is not to be considered limiting, since other embodiments may deviate from the features described in this abstract.

TL;DR: In this article, a method and apparatus for obtaining metadata from multiple information sources in real-time is described, which includes receiving a user request pertaining to one or more of source metadata objects residing in multiple source metadata repositories.
Abstract: A method and apparatus for obtaining metadata from multiple information sources in real time are described. According to one aspect, the method includes receiving a user request pertaining to one or more of source metadata objects residing in multiple source metadata repositories. Each source metadata repository is maintained by a specific data management application. The method further includes responding to the user request in real time by identifying a data management application that corresponds to the source metadata objects associated with the user request and retrieving the source metadata objects using an application program interface (API) with the corresponding data management application.

TL;DR: In this article, a method and system for accessing geodata is presented, where the user is provided with metadata and links to the archive files, and a metadata harvester accesses the metadata in the repository and builds a database.
Abstract: A method and system for accessing geodata. Geodata input (source) files in various formats are converted to downloadable archive files. The input files are also used to derive metadata file associated with maps represented by the geodata. The archive files and associated metadata files are stored in a repository. A metadata harvester accesses the metadata in the repository and builds a database. A web server and web-enabled end user computer communicate via the Internet to provide the user with an interactive interface for searching the metadata database. The user is provided with metadata and links to the archive files.

TL;DR: A model for representing mappings collected from the user community and the metadata associated with the mapping is developed and used to bring together more than 30,000 mappings from 7 sources.
Abstract: Several ontology repositories provide access to the growing collection of ontologies on the Semantic Web. Some repositories collect ontologies automatically by crawling the Web; in other repositories, users submit ontologies themselves. In addition to providing search across multiple ontologies, the added value of ontology repositories lies in the metadata that they may contain. This metadata may include information provided by ontology authors, such as ontologies' scope and intended use; feedback provided by users such as their experiences in using the ontologies or reviews of the content; and mapping metadata that relates concepts from different ontologies. In this paper, we focus on the ontology-mapping metadata and on community-based method to collect ontology mappings. More specifically, we develop a model for representing mappings collected from the user community and the metadata associated with the mapping. We use the model to bring together more than 30,000 mappings from 7 sources. We also validate the model by extending BioPortal---a repository of biomedical ontologies that we have developed--to enable users to create single concept-to-concept mappings in its graphical user interface, to upload and download mappings created with other tools, to comment on the mappings and to discuss them, and to visualize the mappings and the corresponding metadata.

TL;DR: In this paper, a method of updating a database (211) comprising a fingerprint of and an associated set of metadata for each of a number of multimedia objects, a multimedia object and metadata for the multimedia object is downloaded from a file sharing client (101-105).
Abstract: A method of updating a database (211) comprising a fingerprint of and an associated set of metadata for each of a number of multimedia objects, A multimedia object and a set of metadata for the multimedia object is downloaded from a file sharing client (101-105). A fingerprint is computed from the multimedia object, and the computed fingerprint and the obtained set of metadata are included in the database (211). The database (211) can be maintained by a central server (210), or be maintained in a distributed fashion by servers (404) running on the file sharing clients (101-105). The database (211) in this way accumulates plural sets of metadata associated with one particular fingerprint. When a sufficient number of sets has been collected, a definite set can be determined using filtering techniques.
