TL;DR: In this article, a method for preparing the raw materials of pitavastatin calcium, which uses an (E)-7-[2-cyclopropyl-4-(4-fluorophenyl)-3-quinolyl]-5-hydroxyl-3- carbonyl-6-heptene acid ester, was proposed.
Abstract: The invention relates to a method for preparing the raw materials of pitavastatin calcium, which uses an (E)-7-[2-cyclopropyl-4-(4-fluorophenyl)-3-quinolyl]-5-hydroxyl-3- carbonyl-6-heptene acid ester as a beginning raw material to generate a heptenoic acid through being reduced and reacted by adding an alkali and an acid; a D-(+) benzyl methylamine is added to generate a mixture of a benzyl methylamine salt, and crystallize to separate out a (3R, 5S)-dihydroxy-7-[2-cyclopropyl-4-(4-fluorophenyl)-3-quinolyl]-6- heptenoic acid D-(+) benzyl methylamine through the different solubility of the mixtures in a separating agent, and the separating agent is a mixed liquid of a methyl isobutyl ketone and an acetone or an ethanol; finally adds lye to hydrolyze and prepare the pitavastatin calcium salt. The method of the invention is selectively reduced to a pair of isomers by using a determined reduction agent, generates salt by reacting with the D-(+) benzyl methylamine and effectively separates a needed isomer by utilizing the different solubility of various isomers to the separating agent. The invention has the advantages of simple preparing technique, low requirements for the raw materials and high conversion rate of the obtained products.

TL;DR: In this paper, the Fourier transform infrared spectrometer (FTIR) spectrum of the organic phase samples loaded with malic acid was taken to obtain the stoichiometry of complex.
Abstract: Liquid–liquid equilibria of malic acid with tri‐octylamine (TOA) as extractant and 1‐octanol, methyl isobutyl ketone (MIBK) and chloroform as the diluents were investigated, and Fourier transform infrared spectrometer (FTIR) spectrum of the organic phase samples loaded with malic acid were taken to obtain the stoichiometry of complex. The extraction behavior depends on the concentration of malic acid in the equilibrium aqueous phase, species of diluent, and TOA concentrations in the organic phase. A large degree of extraction in protonated diluent appeared at low equilibrium malic acid concentration in the aqueous phase, while the sequence was as MIBK > 1‐octanol > chloroform at high equilibrium malic acid concentration. It has the same sequence as the degree of extraction at overloading region. Malic acid is bonded to TOA in three forms of (1,2), (1,1), and (2,1), and for the complex (1,2), one carboxyl on malic acid was bonded to TOA with ion‐pair association and another with hydrogen bond. TL;DR: In this article, a developed method was designed for gold determination directly in organic medium in some sedimentary rocks (fine sandstone, carbonates), pyrite, serpentine and international standard gold sample (MA-1a) using flame atomic absorption spectroscopy (FAAS).
Abstract: A developed method was designed for gold determination directly in organic medium in some sedimentary rocks (fine sandstone, carbonates), pyrite, serpentine and international standard gold sample (MA-1a) using flame atomic absorption spectroscopy (FAAS). Instrumental parameters; burner angle, fuel flow rate, band pass and burner height together with chemical parameters; different media, leaching and interference effect were optimized to improve gold determination. Selective leaching using a new mixture (5% KCN, 5% Na2S2O3 and hydrogen peroxide) offered maximum leaching percentage of gold (>99%) with minimal concentration of accompanying elements. Extraction parameters using methyl isobutyl ketone (MIBK) from 3 M HCl were optimized for more than 99% gold extraction, followed by scrubbing using 0.1 M HCl. Gold was determined directly in organic phase. Beer’s law was obeyed from 0.01 μg/ml to 10 μg/ml. Standard deviation (from 0.017 to 1.05) and percentage error (from 1.5% to 2.5%) using the present developed AAS method were calculated.

TL;DR: In this article, a method of producing purified methyl isobutyl ketone (MIBK) comprising subjecting a feed stream containing MIBK and impurities to a first distillation procedure from which acetone is recovered.
Abstract: This invention relates to a method of producing purified methyl isobutyl ketone (MIBK) comprising subjecting a feed stream containing MIBK and impurities to a first distillation procedure from which acetone is recovered. The bottom product of the first distillation procedure is fed to a liquid-liquid separator and an organic phase from the said liquid-liquid separator is fed to the top region of a second distillation column to produce an overhead product. The said overhead product is condensed and fed to the said liquid-liquid separator. A bottom product containing MIBK is withdrawn from the second distillation column. This bottom product is fed to a third distillation column, high boiling impurities are withdrawn as a bottom product, and purified MIBK is also withdrawn. The invention also relates to an apparatus used in such a method.
