TL;DR: A second-order direct trajectory optimization method in which the state time history is described by Chebychev polynomials and the dynamical equations are satisfied by penalty functions is described in this paper.
Abstract: A second-order direct trajectory optimization method in which the state time history is described by Chebychev polynomials and the dynamical equations are satisfied by penalty functions is described. The convergence and fidelity of the method are demonstrated with solutions to the following problems: brachistochrone, subsonic transport minimum-time climb, supersonic interceptor minimum-time climb, Goddard rocket problem with a singular arc, subsonic transport minimum-fuel for a fixed-range mission including climb, cruise and descent, and optimal evasive maneuvers for an airplane pursued by a missile with proportional guidance. The results demonstrate that the method provides an efficient and reliable procedure for solving a wide variety of realistic trajectory optimization problems.

TL;DR: In this paper, a two-stage cooperative control strategy for self-organised multi-missile systems is proposed, where the first stage adopts a special distributed consensus protocol in order for all missiles to asymptotically achieve a consensus of states.
Abstract: This study addresses the cooperative control problem of multi-missile systems. It proposed a two-stage control strategy, aiming at simultaneous attack from a group of missiles at a static target. The first stage adopts a special distributed consensus protocol in order for all missiles to asymptotically achieve a consensus of states. During the second stage, the local sightline control law allows the missiles to independently reach the target. The dynamic equation of the missile agent is normalised to a quasi-double-integrator model which is convenient for designing the consensus protocol. The proposed strategy is suitable for missiles of different speeds that have been self-organised without air operations centres. Two convincing simulation results are given to illustrate the efficiency of the proposed method.

TL;DR: In this paper, at the point (F) common to the approach trajectory (T) and to the interception trajectory (t) of the said defense missile (2), the said interception trajectory is transversal to the approaching trajectory, and the central axis of the homing head of the defense missile is inclined laterally with respect to the axis of a fixed control installation.
Abstract: Air defense system capable of intercepting high-speed airborne missiles (3), including a fixed control installation (1) and defense missiles (2). According to the present invention: at the point (F) common to the approach trajectory (T) of the said airborne missile (3) and to the interception trajectory (t) of the said defense missile (2), the said interception trajectory is transversal to the approach trajectory; the central axis of the homing head of the defense missile (2) is inclined laterally with respect to the axis of the said defense missile (2); and the said defense missile (2) is roll-stabilized, so that the said central axis of the said homing head is arranged on the side of the said airborne missile (3).

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors proposed a system for self-defense of aircraft against missiles using a combination of a proximity sensor for the enemy missile, an intercepting rocket, and an aimed light beam, with the light beam optionally being used alone as an optical jammer against an optical homing head on the missile, or being used together with the intercepting satellite to steer it optically by either a semi-active or a beam rider steering method.
Abstract: The invention relates to a device for self-defense of aircraft against missiles and provides for a combination of a proximity sensor for the enemy missile, an intercepting rocket, and an aimed light beam, with the light beam optionally being used alone as an optical jammer against an optical homing head on the missile, or being used together with the intercepting rocket to steer it optically by either a semi-active or a beam rider steering method.

TL;DR: An approximate dynamic programming (ADP) approach is utilized to explore the efficacy of applying approximate methods to the problem of optimizing the defensive response to a missile attack, and demonstrates that the ADP policy provides high-quality decisions for a majority of the state space.
