TL;DR: In this article, Magnesium-lanthanum mixed oxide, a strong solid base, was used for adding Michael additions to super bases at room temperature with a broad spectrum of acceptors and donors.
Abstract: Michael additions were achieved quantitatively at room temperature with a broad spectrum of acceptors and donors, using a magnesium-lanthanum mixed oxide, a strong solid base. The best solvent for the reaction is dimethylformamide, but good yields were also obtained using toluene as solvent. The results obtained with magnesium-lanthanum are comparable to those reported for super bases. The catalyst can be separated from the reaction mixture and recycled five times without loss of activity with no other treatment.

TL;DR: In this article, the authors developed a kinetic model to describe the oxidation behavior of Si1−xGex alloys during Ge segregation, which compares the Deal-Grove flux of oxidant diffusing through the oxide to the maximum flux of Si diffusing in the Ge-rich layer.
Abstract: We have developed a kinetic model to describe the oxidation behavior of Si1−xGex alloys during Ge segregation, which compares the Deal–Grove flux of oxidant diffusing through the oxide to the maximum flux of Si diffusing through the Ge-rich layer. This is motivated by thermal oxidation experiments on Si1−xGex alloys (x<0.17) using a fluorine-containing ambient (O2 and 200 ppm of NF3). The fluorine is known to modify point defect generation during oxidation of pure Si toward vacancy production, which is also the case for Ge in Si. We demonstrate that fluorinated oxidation of Si1−xGex enhances the oxidation rate by 25%–40% in the temperature range of 700–800 °C. Oxides formed at these temperatures were SiO2, while those formed at 600 °C exhibited a transition from SiO2 to mixed oxide growth at some point during the very early phase of oxidation, depending on the alloy composition. Consideration of these data suggests that other factors in addition to oxidation temperature must be considered in predicting wh...

TL;DR: In this article, the role of tellurium in the catalytic performance of Mo-V-Nb-Te-O mixed oxide catalysts has been discussed, and it has been shown that the performance of these catalysts cannot be explained by the incorporation of Te on the surface of a Mo−V−Nb−O mixed-oxide but by the presence of an orthorhombic Te2M20O57 (M=Mo, V, Nb) crystalline phase.

TL;DR: In this article, the reducibility of La1-xSrxCoO3 (a perovskite-type mixed oxide) remarkably increased with the Sr2+ content, x, but the rate of re-oxidation of the reduced catalysts decreased with x.
Abstract: The reducibility of La1-xSrxCoO3 (a perovskite-type mixed oxide) remarkably increased with the Sr2+ content, x, but the rate of re-oxidation of the reduced catalysts decreased with x. These trends well explain the catalytic activity for oxidation on the basis of redox mechanism.
