TL;DR: Security issues that need to be addressed before multi-agent systems in general, and mobile agents in particular, can be a viable solution for a broad range of commercial applications are considered.
Abstract: The agent paradigm is currently attracting much research. A mobile agent is a particular type of agent with the ability to migrate from one host to another, where it can resume its execution. We consider security issues that need to be addressed before multi-agent systems in general, and mobile agents in particular, can be a viable solution for a broad range of commercial applications. This is done by considering the implications of the characteristics given to agents and the general properties of open multi-agent systems. The paper then looks in some more detail at security technology and methods applicable to mobile agent systems.

TL;DR: In this paper, a location server coupled to a wireless network and a wireline network is used to acquire and process information indicating locations of mobile communication devices on the wireless network, which can be used in performing location-based searches and other location-related applications and for customer analysis, among other uses.
Abstract: An information broker operates a location server coupled to a wireless network and a wireline network, which acquires and processes information indicating locations of mobile communication devices on the wireless network. The information broker provides the processed information to one or more recipients. The processed information may be provided by the information broker to a recipient in exchange for payment, as part of a business transaction. The raw or processed location related information may include a history of locations of a mobile communication device and times and durations associated with the locations. The processed information may include graphs or maps of geographic areas in which the mobile devices have been located, movement trends, or other behavioral patterns of mobile users. The processed location data can also be used in performing location-based searches and other location-related applications and for customer analysis, among other uses.

TL;DR: A new power consumption model for a mobile radio network considering backhaul is proposed and a comparison of the power consumption of three different heterogeneous network deployments is performed, showing how backhaul has a non-negligible impact on total power consumption, which differs for different deployments.
Abstract: Energy efficiency in cellular mobile radio networks has recently gained great interest in the research community. The development of more energy efficient hardware and software components aside, effect of different deployment strategies on energy efficiency are also studied in the literature. The latter mainly consist of optimizing the number and the location of different types of base stations in order to minimize the total power consumption. Usually, in the literature, the total network power consumption is restricted to the sum of the power consumption of all base stations. However, the choice of a specific deployment also affects the exact implementation of the backhaul network, and consequently its power consumption, which should therefore be taken into account when devising energy efficient deployment. In this paper, we propose a new power consumption model for a mobile radio network considering backhaul. We then handle a case study and perform a comparison of the power consumption of three different heterogeneous network deployments, and show how backhaul has a non-negligible impact on total power consumption, which differs for different deployments. An energy efficiency analysis is also carried out for different area throughput targets.

TL;DR: A brief survey on some of the work that has been done on wireless virtualization in cellular networks is provided and a framework that enables wirelessvirtualization is presented that is based on the motivations and business models.
Abstract: With wireless virtualization, the overall expenses of mobile cellular network deployment and operation can be significantly reduced by abstracting and sharing infrastructure and radio spectrum resources. Moreover, wireless virtualization can provide easier migration to newer products or technologies by isolating part of the network. Despite the potential vision of wireless virtualization, several significant research challenges remain. In this article, we provide a brief survey on some of the work that has been done on wireless virtualization in cellular networks. We also present the motivations and business models of wireless virtualization. Furthermore, we present a framework that enables wireless virtualization. In addition, we discuss a number of challenges that need to be addressed for the deployment of wireless virtualization in next generation mobile cellular networks.

TL;DR: Fundamental and key technical issues in developing and realizing 3D multi-input multi-output technology for next generation mobile communications are discussed.
Abstract: Spectrum efficiency has long been at the center of mobile communication research, development, and operation. Today it is even more so with the explosive popularity of the mobile Internet, social networks, and smart phones that are more powerful than our desktops used to be not long ago. The discovery of spatial multiplexing via multiple antennas in the mid-1990s has brought new hope to boosting data rates regardless of the limited bandwidth. To further realize the potential of spatial multiplexing, the next leap will be accounting for the three-dimensional real world in which electromagnetic waves propagate. In this article we discuss fundamentals and key technical issues in developing and realizing 3D multi-input multi-output technology for next generation mobile communications.
