TL;DR: This paper proposes a region-division and tour-planning algorithm in which data gathering time is balanced among different regions and carries out extensive simulations and demonstrates that the proposed algorithms significantly outperform single SenCar and non-SDMA schemes.
Abstract: Recent years have witnessed a surge of interest in efficient data gathering schemes in wireless sensor networks (WSNs). In this paper, we address this issue by adopting mobility and space-division multiple access (SDMA) technique. Specifically, mobile collectors, called SenCars in this paper, work like mobile base stations and collect data from associated sensors via single-hop transmissions so as to achieve uniform energy consumption. We also apply SDMA technique to data gathering by equipping each SenCar with multiple antennas such that distinct compatible sensors may successfully make concurrent data uploading to a SenCar. To investigate the utility of the joint design of controlled mobility and SDMA technique, we consider two cases, where a single SenCar and multiple SenCars are deployed in a WSN, respectively. For the single SenCar case, we aim to minimize the total data gathering time, which consists of the moving time of the SenCar and the data uploading time of sensors, by exploring the trade-off between the shortest moving tour and the full utilization of SDMA. We refer to this problem as mobile data gathering with SDMA, or MDG-SDMA for short. We formalize it into an integer linear program (ILP) and propose three heuristic algorithms for it. In the multi-SenCar case, the sensing field is divided into several regions, each having a SenCar. We focus on minimizing the maximum data gathering time among different regions and refer to it as mobile data gathering with multiple SenCars and SDMA (MDG-MS) problem. Accordingly, we propose a region-division and tour-planning (RDTP) algorithm in which data gathering time is balanced among different regions. We carry out extensive simulations and the results demonstrate that our proposed algorithms significantly outperform single SenCar and non-SDMA schemes.

TL;DR: A mail service gateway (MSG) is coupled between at least one network (INTERNET, DATACOM) and a network (GSMN) for mobile communication wherein a short message service is supported as mentioned in this paper.
Abstract: A mail service gateway (MSG) is coupled between at least one network (INTERNET, DATACOM) wherein an electronic mail service is supported and a network (GSMN) for mobile communication wherein a short message service is supported The mail service gateway (MSG) decomposes an incoming electronic mail message and embeds successive parts thereof in successive short messages which are then transmitted through the network (GSMN) for mobile communication towards a mobile terminal (MT1, MT2) A short message processing device (SPD) which may be included in the mobile terminals (MT2) to make the mail service gateway (MSG) transparent is also disclosed Furthermore, a preferred method to adapt existing telecommunication systems to enable support of this electronic mail service therein, is described

TL;DR: In this paper, a method for authorizing a prepaid network service in a data network is described, in which a network end station issues a request for a prepaid service and a determination is made about whether a user associated with the end station is authorized to access the service.
Abstract: A method is disclosed for authorizing a prepaid network service in a data network. A network end station issues a request for a prepaid network service. At a network node, such as a router serving as a gateway for selecting services, a determination is made about whether a user associated with the end station is authorized to access the prepaid network service. Network traffic from the end station is forwarded to a service provider only when the user is authorized to use the prepaid network service. Specific embodiments provide message flows among a mobile station, gateway support node, router, and authentication server that support providing prepaid services in a packet-switched network for mobile communication. In certain embodiments, a connection is held open for an end station while a prepaid quota value is refreshed at a portal, thereby reducing overhead and precluding the need to repeat user logon steps. Further, unused quota amounts can be returned to the authentication server for use in association with multiple concurrent connections of the same device.

TL;DR: In this paper, a mobile device manager generates and transmits one or more measurement request messages and receives network-characteristic measurements in response, which are stored and aggregated and may be used to generate network maps and generate alarms as appropriate or at the request of a network operator.
Abstract: A manner of monitoring communications networks, and in a preferred embodiment specifically of monitoring and reporting RF (radio frequency) signal strength in mobile communication networks. A mobile device manager generates and transmits one or more measurement request messages and receives network-characteristic measurements in response. These responses are stored and aggregated and may be used to generate network maps and generate alarms as appropriate or at the request of a network operator.

TL;DR: In this paper, improved capabilities are described for receiving information relating to a physical movement of a mobile communication facility, and linking the physical movement with navigation of mobile search application, where movement of the mobile communication device may be detected by one or more motion sensors and/or image analysis software algorithms embodied in the mobile device.
Abstract: In embodiments of the present invention, improved capabilities are described for receiving information relating to a physical movement of a mobile communication facility, and linking the physical movement with navigation of a mobile search application. In embodiments, movement of the mobile communication facility may be detected by one or more motion sensors and/or image analysis software algorithms embodied in the mobile communication facility. Direction, speed, and acceleration of movement, and the like, may be associated with actions such as zooming, scrolling, entry cancellation, function reset, and the like by software operating in the mobile communication facility.
