Design concept of antennas for small mobile terminals and the future perspective

Abstract: With the progress and rapid increase in mobile terminals, the design of antennas for small mobile terminals is acquiring great importance. In view of this situation, the design concept of antenna systems for small mobile terminals and its future perspective are discussed, referring to the trends in modern mobile communications and the demands for the antenna system. The design concept of antenna systems has changed along with the progress of mobile systems. In the conventional design, the conducting material of the equipment case, existing near the antenna element, is included as a part of the radiator in the antenna system, without regard to whether or not it has been considered. In the latest mobile phones, the design concept has been advanced to aim at improving the antenna's performance, and the treatment of the case, etc., has become a part of this. Some particular considerations for the design are to relieve the degradation of the antenna's performance due to the human-body effect, to overcome the SAR problems, and yet to make the size small. Furthermore, it is now time to proceed to the more-advanced concept, in which implementation of adaptive control and software is considered, even in small mobile terminals. Typical trends in modern communications systems are discussed, and the demands of these trends-which are summarized as down-sizing, function, and intelligence-are taken up for future antenna structures. Small-antenna technology and the application of the integration technology to antenna systems are essential for realizing such future structures.

I-centric communications: personalization, ambient awareness, and adaptability for future mobile services

Abstract: The acceptance of next-generation mobile communication systems depends to a large extent on the services and applications that can be offered to customers. Tailoring the services to actual user needs is considered to be crucial for the success of future wireless technology. The individual user, "I", has to be put in the center of service provisioning. In this article, we report the work developed by the Working Group 2 of the Wireless World Research Forum on a service infrastructure framework for the future wireless world. Major service capabilities such as personalization, ambient awareness, and adaptability are described along with a reference model focusing in I-centric communication.

Mobile communication terminal, wireless data service authentication server, system for automatically blocking voice call connection, and method of processing various messages in mobile communication terminal

Abstract: Disclosed is a technology for preventing a legitimate terminal's user from being damaged due to the fraudulent usage of a cloned terminal. A mobile communication terminal transmits authentication information containing terminal usage time information to a wireless network according to a voice call connection procedure, and performs a voice call release process upon receiving an authentication failure message from the wireless network in response to the authentication information.

Social Media Marketing Based on Transactions Using a Mobile Device and Associated Secure Element

Abstract: A secure element can be physically coupled to a mobile communication device to allow for transactions with remote terminals such as point-of-sale and point-of-entry terminals. Data can be transmitted data between the mobile communication device and the secure element in a manner that allows for easy receipt of the data especially in cases where a wireless carrier network or WIFI connection is not available. Once the mobile communication device receives the transaction data, it can be posted on social media sites such as Twitter, Facebook, Myspace, etc . When a consumer shares their latest purchase and opinions about the product or event with their Special Interest Group (e.g. fans on facebook, followers on twitter , or any members affiliated with a social media group), it gives them a voice not available through traditional product review channels, and could compel others to purchase that item as well and merchants can reward users for posting (i.e. marketing) purchase history
